al-Scycura, Ibtisam "Sam"

A sixteen-year old Arabic Scyther sophomore.

Her full name is properly Ibtisam al-Jamal bint Sirhan ibn Mohammed al-Khalidi ibn Aloni bint Azami al-Marwan ibn Abdullah al-Scycura... but she likes to be called Sam by her friends. She grew up in a hive made up of insect Pokemorphs, where life is dominated by political jockeying, makeshift alliances, and feuds between different factions and types of Mon. Sam's mother, a powerful figure in the hive, arranged for her to go to the PCA. Sam, hating life in the hive, agreed to go; not intending to ever return.

A highly skilled and tenacious fighter, Sam wished to fight as an independent, but her abrasive personality and discipline problems prompted the PCA administration to force her to join a team. She joined and was kicked off of two teams before Rene offered her a place on the team after she saved him from a bully. Sam accepted and has remained part of Team Turquoise ever since.

Sam is bisexual, something she had not realized about herself before she came to the PCA, and has fallen for Emily Mentel of Team 16. She's a great fighter, but a lackluster student. Sam also has interest in photography and works on the yearbook committee. Her likes include fighting, photography, Emily, and tormenting her team leader and good friend, Rene Vulpes. Her dislikes include academics, her mother, authority figures, and cheap clothing that her claws keep tearing.

"Nattie" Alderman was born to a controlling mother, who had by the time of her birth already cowed her father and older brother into submission. Natalie wanted none of it, and launched an immediate and lifelong rebellion by going at least halfway crazy. Her mother wanted her to be a league fighter. She was more interested in computers. In the end, her mother won a major battle by sending her to PCA instead of Saffron Tech, as she'd hoped. But Natalie is far from done fighting this war.

You'll never see Natalie without a perpetual idiot's grin plastered on her face; frowns are rare, crying or outright anger unheard of. She never needs them- that endless cheer in her voice can be threatening enough if she wants it. Yet behind the foolish expression lies a mind as sharp as a fresh-honed razor, capable of assembling a website from scratch over a weekend or finding the smallest loophole in the school dress code to exploit, just for the sake of doing so. Natalie hates rules, having known nothing but an excess of them all her life, though she's no idiot and will happily follow the ones that make sense.

Though she may have her mind set on the technological angle, Natalie is no slouch as a battler. Her mother's training and pressuring was not all for naught, and that combined with her father's genetics have made Natalie into the toughest (relatively) member of Team Speed Demons, in charge of up-close-and-personal combat. And you'd never guess, seeing her on the field, that she'd been avoiding that path her whole life, for she takes to that task as she does every task; with a smile.

Bring the youngest of five children, Dominic has always been looked at as the cute and adorable one, a tag he has tried his damnedest to shake. A musical prodigy, he has been playing the guitar since he was very young and like many kids his age, dreamed of making it big in a rock band. Unlike most of them however, Dominic had the talent to back up his dreams. But his dreams would change shortly before he started high school when his older sister Tessa, whom he had always been very close to, was critically injured during a routine battle at the Poke-Combat Academy.

Going to her side in the hospital, Dominic vowed to go out and fight the battles that she no longer could, giving up his own dream so that she could live hers through him. Untrained and untested in battle, he underwent rigorous training over the summer leading up to the next year, barely passing the school's entrance exams. He spent his freshman year getting a feel for things, taking his lumps, and training diligently. When his sophomore year came around he was assigned to be part of a team by the administration and made the leader only because his name came first alphabetically.

Dominic has not only greatly improved his own skills since he arrived at the Academy, but he's also managed to take a randomly thrown together group of misfits and forge them into an effective, if unorthodox team. Driven by the vow he made to the sister he loves and showing almost as much potential and talent as she did, this underrated and overlooked fighter and his team have the ability to go far.

An Egg somehow became lost at sea one day, and drifted with the currents until it washed ashore south of Johto's Goldenrod City. There it was discovered by a pair of retirees named James and Rachel Azevado, who decided, having never been able to have children, to hatch the egg and adopt whatever came out as their own. And out of that egg came Marcos Azevedo, known to nearly everybody as "Ace".

Growing up in the streets of Goldenrod City, Marcos quickly gained a love of technology-- radio, in particular, as the black monolith of the Radio Tower could be seen from every part of town, and its signal heard as far away as New Bark. He also gained expertise at street brawling, as running errands for his aging adoptive parents often took him through dangerous streets and alleys in the town's rear face. His parents didn't miss that he had a knack for the rumble, and on his 14th birthday announced that they were sending him to the prestigious Pokemon Combat Academy outside Viridian. He couldn't have been happier.

Marcos is fairly unobtrusive-- average height, average weight, nothing special to look at for a Staryu-- except for the fact that he LOVES to talk, which is quite abnormal for Staryu and Starmie. Being brought up by bird Pokemon in and around the largest city in the Johto Region, this should really have not been a surprise. His chatterbox nature makes him a rather likable guy, familiar in the social circles-- but ask someone to describe him, and they'll never get beyond his voice. When Marcos shuts his mouth, it's like he doesn't exist-- a talent that he's found quite useful before.

Marcos is the newest member of Team Speed Demons, having joined up at the recommendation of the previous captain when he graduated, and though nothing has been finalized yet it's fairly clear the role he will fill. The Staryu is a master when it comes to evasion and camouflage, able to appear as if from nowhere, launch an attack, and then melt away from sight faster than it takes to read about it. He is an ideal Guerilla-- the perfect ambush artist, impossible to hit, infuriating to fight.

Amber "Ambs" Bentha grew up in Sinnoh's Jubilife City, the heart of the entertainment industry in that region, and a hotbed of journalism that's required to follow any sort of scandal or political intrigue. A middle-class girl, her aspiration was (and is) always to be a top-notch reporter, and came to the PCA to help fulfill that dream. First writing for the school's rag, but leaving (see: dropped) after an incident involving her notoriously foul mouth and the one time the school paper was allowed the intercom for morning announcements, followed by a near-expulsion by ex-Principal Darius, Amber started Team Action 6 News as the lead reporter and team leader.

Amber tends to wear herself down often by pulling all-night editing and writing jobs for her underground newspaper, "The Scoop", and sometimes helps fuel these by having the occasional cigarette, something she's ashamed of doing as it is, let alone how often she's joined at the hip with her health-nut girlfriend, making it that much harder to hide. But with seemingly endless energy and a friendship with Noah Kindle, the principal's attending son to fall back on for the occasional article (always helps to lasso in readers with a piece done by the son of the principal), she somehow manages to make it through the school year.

Clarence Trey Codutti, better known as "Kletrek", is the youngest sibling from a Verdanturf Town family who has wanted nothing more all his life than to be given attention. Overshadowed by his sisters' accomplishments, he adopted an attitude that can best be described as loud and boorish, and which got him into a LOT of fights in and around his school in nearby Mauville. In the end, though, it got him what he wanted-- the constant fighting made him so good at it that he swept a local tournament despite being barely 14 and still a Treecko (he evolved instantly after winning the final bout). His parents, ashamed at not noticing the ends he had been going to try and get their attention before, announced promptly that they would be sending the young champ to the best school they could afford-- namely, PCA.

Though not very strong physically, Clarence is FAST-- highly developed leg muscles plus his low overall weight make him by far the fastest member of a team designed around speed. He can do a mile run in 6:30 or shut down an opponent in combat before they can even make their first Move. Unfortunately, he knows all this very well, and it has done nothing good for his ego, which as of last check was roughly the size of the Goodyear Blimp. As a result, Clarence has a hard time making friends-- he boasts endlessly if he's won recently, and gripes just as endlessly if he's lost. However, those who do make an effort to befriend the jock find that beneath the attention-hogging exterior lies a steadfast ally and a hard worker, who will defend those he considers friends to the last-- whether in a debate, an argument, or a fight.

Clarence is not all that hardy physically, but good luck hitting him-- the Grovyle is abnormally fast, and a competent combatant to boot. As a result, it's no surprise that Clarence's role in Team Speed Demons is to be as fast as possible; as the team's First Striker, it's Clarence's job to ensure that the Speed Demons draw first blood in battle, whittling down opponents before moving on and leaving them to be mopped up by his comrades.

Skylar is the daughter of General Augustus Ferrotti, a high-ranking officer in the Sinnoh military. Although he was a bit disappointed at not having a son, he nonetheless raised his daughter to be the ideal soldier in order to carry on a proud family tradition. Skylar was trained in the military lifestyle virtually since she was old enough to fly, and went to the finest military preparatory schools and academies that Sinnoh had to offer, excelling in both academics and combat training.

When Skylar came of age to attend high school her father made preparations to enroll her in a proper military academy but to his surprise she protested. After nearly a decade of such schools Skylar wanted the chance to attend a normal school, to make normal friends, and do the things that any ordinary girl her age would be doing. The General would have nothing of it but when Skylar's mother, who had usually remained quiet about such things, vocally sided with Skylar, the General knew that he was outnumbered.

A compromise was reached where Skylar would attend a battle academy, but not a formal military one - the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning. Skylar easily aced both the academic and battle exams and backed by her prestigious family name and connections entered the academy a top prospect. However her military attitude would be shed almost as soon as she walked in the door. Finally out from under her father's oppressive wing, Skylar took to a party-girl lifestyle, eagerly making new friends and getting out in the world, counting on her past experience and skill in the arena and classroom to carry her through. Too busy having a good time her freshman year to join a team, she was assigned to one at the start of her sophomore year at her father's request.

Skylar has long been the pivotal 'mon on Team Krimson, using her skill and experience to carry the team to many of their victories. Now however the rest of the team is starting to come together and pick up the slack, becoming less and less of a one 'mon team. Although Skylar may be friendly, outgoing, and a party on wings outside the battle arena, inside of it she's all business, fighting with instincts and precision honed from years of military-grade combat training.

His mother left his father before he even hatched and he was almost taken away by social services. The reason for this is that his father, a professional battler called White Smoke, was accused of taking illegal substances. White Smoke����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½s manager refused to release his fighters medical records in order to cover for those fighters that he knew where cheating. Smoke����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½s father was then fired from his combat league and his wife left him, but not before going on several talk shows to blast him for abuse and a whole host of other things that never happened.

With Smoke just about to hatch, his father swallowed his pride and took a job as a janitor/security guard for a small arena. Although they where poor Smokes never lacked attention or love from his father. In order to help his father out Smokes would work any odd jobs he could find around the arena that����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½s how he became a towel mon and meet Bling his best friend. Smokes time at the arena was always happy because many of the fighters knew that his father had been given a raw deal and are ready to give the kid some pointers. Smoke was always eager to learn and soaked up all the training he could from the friendly fighters. Recently a police investigation at long last nailed White Smoke����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½s manager for drug dealing and found the old medical records to clear him. After several well placed lawsuits and approval from Poke Combat League Board, White Smoke returned to the arenas as a competitor once more With Jared ����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½Smoke����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½ now at the PCA he is determined to have the career that he feels his father was cheated out of, it will be in his own words.. Personality:

Smoke is loud and quick to take offense. He will always jump onto anyone he feels is disrespecting him or his team and is in many ways a hot head. He also hates anyone he sees as a bully, as he was tormented by the in crowd all through his school days since the teachers would rarely come to his defense. He is always quick to fight and loving it.

Fighting Style:

Smokes uses an combination of defense moves to keep his opponent away from him while setting them up for a big offensive blast to take them out. This comes from an old habit of his of not wanting to get hurt and explain it to the Social workers who always seemed to be butting in on his family.

Hiro was born the third child in a prosperous gym owning family that has a line of battlers and champions stretching back generations. Hiro almost died when he was born as he hatched from his egg almost a month early and has suffered chronic health problems throughout his early childhood the most obvious of these has been his small stature. Called a runt by his parents Hiro has been ignored by his family for almost his entire life since both of his parents only cared about continuing the proud family line and they considered Hiro unworthy of training. His only friend throughout his early life was an childless uncle, his namesake, that saw to his health and care and encouraged Hiro����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½s battling dreams whenever he was home from his own journeys.

Even when Hiro was given a clean bill of health by his doctors his parents only concentrated on training his elder siblings often dismissing Hiro from the gym or promising that they would make up the time later, which they never did. This went on until one day when Hiro����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½s father sick of being pestered by him threw him out of the family dojo and launched into horrific rant of how small Hiro was, how he could never learn the noble arts because he was a damaged and stupid child, he finished by telling a now crying Hiro that his birth had been a mistake by his parents and how he wished that Hiro had not survived his early hatching. The crying child ran away into the streets followed by his cruel fathers orders never to enter the family dojo again. Hiro made his way to a back alley gym where he heard the sounds of a battle taking place, sneaking into the building he found a minor league battle taking place. While watching the matches he was mistaken as one of the arenas towel boys and was taken to the locker rooms. It was there he met with Bling and Smoke who knew that he wasn����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½t employed but chose not to squeal on him and welcomed him into locker room. Although he was found in the arena by his concerned uncle and taken back home he vowed to return. Personality:

Guns is quite and aloof in all social situations. Neve is part of a large, extended family hailing from Lilycove City in the Hoenn region. Small even by her species' standards she was often picked on by her siblings and cousins and was forced to fight back in the only way she could - with her wits, an ego-crushing gift for psych jobs, and pure attitude. She would often pit family rivals against each other in order to keep them off of her, mouthing off to one of them one minute and hiding behind them the next.

As she grew older Neve took her attitude to the streets, running into all manner of trouble, sometimes more than she bargained for. Her older brother Alejandro, who was always her closest ally during family squabbles, fell in with one of the regional crime syndicates and was killed in a turf war. This tragedy prompted her uncle Antonio, a physics teacher at the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning, to pull her out of that environment and enroll her at the academy to keep her out of trouble and made arrangements for her to live in one of the campus dormitories.

Neve was initially unhappy with this arrangement and eager to make her displeasure known, but has since calmed down a bit, showing a willingness to make friends as well as enemies. She was assigned to join Team Krimson at the start of the year when the administration grouped together a seemingly random assortment of students as a team. Initially stubborn and uncooperative, she has since come to regard them as her closest friends and surrogate family.

Neve has a lot of street-smarts, knows how to fight dirty, and won't hesitate to do so. She uses her speed and debilitating effects to wear an opponent down before moving in for the kill, rattling off nerve-wracking insults the entire time that often leave opponents flustered and causes them to make mistakes, which she is all too quick to capitalize on.

Vali's mother is from a wealthy and influential family that owns several resorts and hotels in the Sevii Islands. At a young age she left home to rebel against them and live carefree on their money, engaging in one relationship after another that they didn't approve of. One of these wild flings was with a poliwrath from one of the more tribal settlements on the island, which would have an unexpected and unlikely consequence - the rebellious gardevoir becoming pregnant. Although the odds of such a normally infertile pairing coming to fruition were astronomically high, they were apparently not impossible. Lauren's family was appalled and all but disowned her, only the fact that her daughter was thankfully born a ralts, albeit an unusually-colored one, prevented such. Nonetheless Vali was scorned by her mother and most of her family, instead raised by her poliwrath father who took her in without question.

Vali grew up with far more respect and familiarity for her father's tribal traditions than her mother's, seeing her mother and her family only rarely. She traded fancy gowns for khaki shorts and swimwear, dinner parties with the rich and powerful for surfing and lounging on the beach. Growing up without any psychic influence stunted the development of her psychic abilities, which actually grew weaker as she evolved from a ralts to a kirilia and then to a gardevoir. While the potential is there, the complete lack of training has rendered the psychic attacks that gardevoirs are normally known for all but inert. However she was trained to fight by her father, and is very well versed in physical combat. An awareness for the natural world unusual for her species would develop from this training as well, driving her to train and work hard, hoping to join the Rangers.

Once she had learned all she could at the school in her small hometown, her father moved to transfer her to the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning, to learn not only battle tactics but skills and training that would be useful in her goal. Vali's mother's side of the family was happy to foot the bill if it meant sending her away. Before even starting classes she happened to meet Team Krimson's leader Dominic Ardillo del Relampago at a nearby indoor sports and recreational complex where she was surfing in the wave pool.

Dominic was there to contemplate adding an alternate to his own team in consideration of several intense, high-profile matches where injuries had occurred, a move backed by his sister and coach Tessa. Dominic and Vali got to talking at the juice bar, the subject came up, and she volunteered. Dominic wanted to see if she could fight first and she promptly drug him over to one of the battle cages in the complex to do so, still in her swimsuit, thereby ensuring her spot after defeating him. Partly due to proving her fighting ability, and partly (though Dominic won't admit it) for doing so in a bikini.

Having been trained by her father with minimal exposure to her mother's side, Vali knows very little about fighting like a "proper" gardevoir. Most of her attacks are physical and she's a very skilled hand to hand combatant, which takes nearly everyone by surprise. While she may be an unusual combatant, this only seems to make her fit in with her new team all the better.

Nadia is the quiet, shy sort of girl that you rarely notice in your classes, always there but never really on anybody's radar. Somewhat naive, but very friendly, she spends most of her time at the PCA spending time with her novels and schoolwork, training with the rest of her team when called upon, but otherwise reserved.

First drawn to attend the school on a visit to Viridian, she became friends with her current teammate Akira Mayes-Amami, starting up a relationship with the girl that ended sourly when it was revealed that Akira had been untrue. Now, roped into her team, this school, and everything that comes with it, she's more often become reserved bordering on hermetic after the breakup, drawn out only occasionally by her other teammates and the small handful of friends she's made since coming to Viridian over the summer, attempting to break her out of her emotional shell she's drawn herself in to.

An optimistic, yet hateful Porygon-Z who loves to repair PCs and all sorts of technology. Because of the Dubious Disc's glitches, Cyb now has a damaged head along with a speech disorder which tends for him to lash out at everyone.

Vulpes, Reynard "Rene"

Reynard Vulpes is a sixteen year-old vulpix sophomore. He prefers to be called Rene as its a more ambigious name gender-wise. He is transgender and identifies rather fiercely with the female sex. Extremely friendly to the female population and indifferent at best to the vast majority of the male population, Rene is one of the more memorable students at the PCA. He's also infamous for his wearing of girl's underwear and has been stricken with the misfortune of losing his pants with an astonishing frequency.

Though you wouldn't know it by the way he acts, Rene is highly intelligent and an excellent student though his fighting skills as only average. Only recently--under the tutelage of friends like Sam al-Sycura, Meghan DeCinder, Tessa delRampagio, and Nicole Zuna--has he started to come into his own as a battler. His intelligence is belied by his emotional immaturity and his fondness for hugging virtually every female (plus a few select males) he meets.

Rene's much loved mother, a former athlete and model named Vera Kistunegari, has been in a coma since he was nine. He loves her deeply--the same of wihch cannot be said of his father; the two do not get along at all.

Many girls at the PCA like Rene...or at least tolerate him. He's a favorite doll, little 'sister,' pet, and friend to many of them. Something Rene enjoys immensely.

Rene also has more nicknames than any other student: Tails, Browser, Many Butts, Firefluff, Chica, Foxy, Vixen, Fuzzy-buns, Nene, Hodad, Glompasaurus, Fluffbutt, Fuzzlebum, etc.

While Rene is friendly to a lot of girls, he provokes a lot of eyerolling--or worse--among the male students, especially since he's prone to threatening the boyfriends of girls he likes and had the privelege of changing in the girls' locker room.

Rene's understanding is a bit skewed as the line between friendship and crush tends to be a bit blurry. His friendship-crushes do encompasses a large number of girls (as recorded in his Little Black Book) as well as a certain pair of British twin boys (much to their chagrin). Aside from this mother and father, Rene's only other family is his distant cousin Faith Sumisu and her family, a recent discovery.

Though he likes or crushes on a lot of girls he loves only one girl: Nicole Zuna. He loved her ever since she floored him during a battle.

Rene's likes include Nicole, his friends, his teammates, clothes shopping, reading, and his mother. His dislikes include guy-stuff, his dad, and bullies.

Zuna, Nicolas

As far as anyone can tell, Nicolas is about the only normal one in his group. Typical guy. Typical grades. Early on, you would never expect him to do anything extraordinary. Compared to his rambunctious sister, Nicolas was always the more level headed. When his parents signed him up for dojo classes, to keep an eye on Nicole, they never would have thought he would excel on the mat.

Nicolas became a point of interest for Master Long. He noticed that Nicolas preferred to watch his opponents and memorized their fighting techniques. Mr. Long watched the smiling boy turn matches around by just exploiting the littlest weakness.

During one competition, Nicolas was the last one to fight. While he was waiting, he found a sharpie and began to scribble in his hand. By the time his match was to begin, his left arm was covered in lines, names of cute girls, silly faces, and such. He won the match in three hits. Nicolas took it as a sign, and to this day continues to enter battle with some tribal design surrounding his arm.

Zuna, Nicole

One of the guys. Nicole has always been one of the guys. Playing in mud, chasing polytoads. Spitting in public. Nicole just naturally shunned any attempt by friends and family to give her a dose of social estrogen. Her mother was formally known as a local wrestling champ called "Big Momma", and she wants to follow in her mom's footsteps all the way to Grand Champion.
