Koctn

Introduction

The Koctn are tribes of barabarians who wander the desert world of Cyxon Mox. Generally tall and dark-skinned, the Koctn have little or no knack for magic. The limited oral history given by the tribe states that those who once weilded the power of magic left long ago in search of a better world to inhabit. Hundreds of years later, the remaining people have developed a fear of magic. Wizards who find themselves on their planet are often attacked and killed if they reveal any hint of their powers.

Language

The Koctn speak a very harsh language with rough enunciation and a brutish accent. It is called Peyb in their own words, but outsiders have been known to call it 'desert tounge' for it's gravelly, dry sound. Very, very few have actually learned this language, but that is mostly because very few people have actually met with a tribe and lived.

Social Structure

The Koctn have little social hierarchy. They are not seen as poor, middle-class, or rich, but are divided into two classes. One class, the average tribe member, makes up most of the population. The second class is the 'leader' family, which dictates solutions for the tribes many problems. Although they wield power over the entire population, if they are deemed unfit to rule they are forcibly banished from the tribe and hunted as outlaws. This keeps the balance of power between the people and their rulers from becoming too much of a negative one. The economy is based on a barter system, and the law is often a harsh 'eye for an eye' policy. Women are not opressed, but still fufill the matronly role that is generally given to them.

Food is obtained by hunting the large spider creatures known as the Mhoro Hor, which is done in large parties for protection. They will under no circumstances eat Ect Naykob, for they are revered and considered to be lucky.
