Manchester is a city which grew out of the Industrial Revolution. It's principal businesses are: textiles, computing, electronics, engineering, and medical research.

There is a large student population, thanks to the largesse of the Victorian entrepreneurs and benefactors who founded the Universities and furnished the citizens wih numerous libraries, galleries and museums.

Manchester has a reputation for wet weather, which is why the textile industries thrived there - cotton manufacturing requires a damp climate in order for the threads not to break during the spinning and weaving processes. Thanks to its textiles industry, Manchester has always enjoyed strong ties with both the Indian subcontinent and the Americas.

The Manchester Academy of the Ordo Dracul is a well established community based in the centre of the city. It is represented at Court by Elijah Wood
