Russian Revolution
From Oneiropedia
The Russian Revolution (or Яцssiaи Яэvolцтioи) was a revolution instigated by the Bolsheviks in Russia in 1917.
Background
Russia had been under imperial rule for centuries, ever since Michael Romanov, Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great, and other Romanovs. Insurgents like the nihilists had tried to start a revolution by assassinating the czar, but the imperial government just cracked down harder.
In 1914, WWI began. At this time, Czar Nicolai II was in control of Russia. It had recently lost to Japan in the Russo-Japanese War, and Czarina Alexandra was a little too friendly with a licentious peasant, Rasputin. Rasputin was killed by nobles in 1916, cursing the royal family in his dying breath as they plunged him into the Volga.
Bang! Revolution
Soon after Rasputin's death, Bolsheviks like Lenin and Trotsky became very powerful, and they stormed Moscow, renaming St. Petersburg as Leningrad and taking Russia out of WWI. They set up a communist government, the first one in modern history. The revolution was complete.
