When customer calls, the below flow chart can be used to guide the caller.

Ask caller the following.

  • Company Name
  • Job Name
  • Location
  • Phone Number

Ask the customer if it is a replacement job or a new build.

  • If replacement job, ask for existing model number and determine if it is a roof top or split system
  • If it is a new build, ask the customer if they need a roof top or split system

If Roof Top, determine the below if not obvious from model number.

  • Gas/Eelctric (Y), Electric/Electric (T), Heat Pump (W)
  • Tonnage
  • Voltage
  • If Electric or Heat Pump, do they need a heat strip (how much)
  • Do they need outside air (manual damper or economizer)
  • If new job, do they need a curb? If it’s a replacement job is the existing unit sitting on a curb (thus needing an adapter)

If Split, need to determine straight cool or heat pump.

  • If straight cool (TTA)
  1. Tonnage?
  2. Voltage?
  3. Do they need heat? If so, gas or electric?
  4. If gas heat, 80% or 90% furnace?
  5. Upflow or downflow furnace?
  • If heat pump (TWA)
  1. Tonnage?
  2. Voltage?
  3. Do they need heat, if so how much?
