Elizabeth Dorminson
Elizabeth Dorminson (Eliza) is a fifth year Hufflepuff at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She excels at Charms and Potions and thoroughly enjoys Divination and Astronomy. Her academic weaknesses are particularly evident in DADA. She strongly dislikes Herbology because of the dirt and grime involved. Most of her time is spent studying at the Quidditch Pitch. Although she doesn't play Quidditch, she obsessively watches the sport (along with the male players). As a pureblood, she has some random, assorted non-magical skills including traditional ballroom dancing, sewing and writing. Her parents tried to force music upon her, but she has absolutely no talent in that area.
Eliza adores the idea of romance, fate, and soul-mates. She falls in and out of love frequently with multiple people, often at the same time. Despite her interest in the subject, she's never managed to have a proper date and only recently received her first kiss. Although she flirts, Elizabeth gets flustered easily and often unable to go beyond a certain point. Since she's fascinated with romance and is naturally intuitive to other's feelings, Elizabeth succeeds in giving out good advice. To give her advice credibility, Eliza has been known to fudge a few details of her experience with fellows. Because of her inexperience and ideals, she's very easily manipulated and used, especially if the manipulator is a good-looking guy. Elizabeth also appreciates love of the non-romantic type and is deeply loyal to her friends. She is also obsessed with fashion and beauty. She doesn't really understand why people think it's superficial.
As a pretty member of a rich, pureblood family, Elizabeth has never experienced real prejudice. She's pretty oblivious to the whole thing. She simply can't imagine not having money. Eliza isn't rude to those unlike her on purpose, but occasionally she unknownlingly makes a comment that is condescending. On the other hand, if Elizabeth gets truly annoyed at someone (such as the Daedals) it turns into full-out snark. Her opinionated personality can also lead to deep-set predjudice.
Elizabeth is the second child and only girl. Her parents are James Dorminson II (43) who works in the Ministry of Magic as the Head of Public Relations at the Department of Magical Transportation. Her mother, Mary Claire Dorminson (38) is a socialite and housewife. The family has a lot of "old money." Her only sibling is James Dorminson III (19) who works as a Healer. The two are very close, but Eliza has grown increasingly frustrated by his close watch on her. Her annoyance and anxiety has only been hightened by his repositioning to Hogwarts. However, she does prefer this behaviour to her parents; both her mother and father substitute emotional support and prescence with money and gifts. Unlike many other purebloods her age, Elizabeth has spent most of the Christmas Holidays at Hogwarts.
Relationships
Anna Farley is Elizabeth's best friend. The two met at a pureblood get-together and their strong friendship was only tightened by their placement in the same house. Eliza feels like she can talk to Anna about anything except, of course...
William Farley. William is Anna's brother. Despite revolving-door crushes, Eliza has had a significant long-lasting crush on Will that borders on obsession. She gets a bit awkward and shellshocked around him. Almost everyone knows about her crush on William except for, naturally, William himself. When the two were made new Hufflepuff prefects, Eliza was excited at the idea of spending more time with him. Her non-relationship with William was nearly jeopardized when a mutual friend, Taylor DeLouise, informed Will of her crush. However, he eventually dismissed this as fiction as Taylor was known for his joking. Currently, the two are a bit cautious as William learned Eliza kissed Tobias Kinsella and Eliza heard that William kissed Dariana Davison.
Taylor DeLouise is perhaps Elizabeth's best male friend. Elizabeth likes flirting with him, but mostly thinks of him as a sort-of friend. Of course, he's the sort-of friend she wouldn't mind snogging. He recently got a girlfriend which amuses Eliza a little. However, after this discovery he's moved more permanently into the just-friends category (and the male section of that category is pretty small.) After informing William of her crush on him, Taylor was on the receiving end of serious anger from Eliza. He managed to sweet-talk his way out of that as Elizabeth couldn't find it in her to be permanently annoyed at him.
Tobias Kinsella is a Quidditch player which Eliza thinks is quite sexy. However, after Tobias accidentally incorrectly paired with her to flirt with her, the two were given detention. Thoroughly frustrated, she ignored him for a while. When she finally got around to yelling at him, she was somehow distracted and ended up having her first kiss with him. Yeah, we don't get it either.
Dariana Davison can go die now.
Gabriella Richards grew up in the same town as Eliza and is much loved by Elizabeth. She adores the girl despite Bri's constant teasing over her crush(es). The pair hang out whenever possible and like "playing" with potions together. Bri is also William's best friend so Eliza likes to hear about Will from Bri.
Hannah Salix and Elizabeth get along well and are friends because if they weren't they'd kill each other. They're family but, then again, they're purebloods so who isn't? They like doing silly things together.
Jul Agate. Eliza doesn't understand her at all. The two are just very different. Additionally, Elizabeth accidentally rubbed her new Prefecture in Jul's face which led to a large fight in the Great Hall.
Addie Blackwood is a smidge too Gryffindor for Elizabeth but that's not too important. Elizabeth and Addie's mothers were best friends during school and forced the two together as friends. Although they were pressured similarly, each girl responded differently. They share a shaky, somewhat dishonest friendship.
The Daedals amuse Eliza. She gives it as good as she gets from them.
Plot
Elizabeth's character is primarily ROMANTICALLY DRIVEN. This doesn't mean that her main purpose is to "OTP." Simply, most of her actions are centered around her romantic life because it is so important to her. Her mother and others will soon begin pressuring her to marry and date those of higher social standing to raise the family status. She's currently vulnerable and easily used which will lead her into trouble. Her alliance straddles the line and hinges upon those she encounters and who she trusts.
Eventually, Elizabeth will grown cynical and upset as she realizes that love is not what it's often made-out to be. This downward spiral has begun with her first kiss which, while spectacular, had no real romance or perfection to the moment.
Her future could go one of three ways at the moment: trophy wife to a Death Eater, ordinary life working and married, or married and not working as the wife of a pureblood.
