TCV-09
From Nova
A strain of virus that was particularly rampant during the Septmeber and early October of 2007 in Alfegos.
Origins
TCV-09 is a particularly nasty strain of the Toopoxican Cholera-like Virus, formed by rampant mutation amongst the virus until it reached phase where it became airborne. It was transmitted by an unknown carrier to New Zevkhay, where it quickly spread.
Symptons
The symptoms of the disease occur after an 18 hour incubation period, on average. After this, the disease begins to attack the intestinal tract and lungs, as well as the bloodstream, leading to coughing that transmits the disease.
Treatment
While intense re-hydration therapy will not save a victim due to Septicaemia in the bloodstream and pneumonic symptons, coupled with intense anti-serum therapy and mass vaccinations it will almost completely halt an outbreak in the process.
Current Status As of 18/11.07, the disease is currently only prevalent in dormant state in a few people, who are being subjected to a mass vaccination scheme to try and completely stamp out the disease, before it mutates again.
