History
Prevania was founded in 1232 by russian refugees, fleeing from Gengis Khan. They formed a settlement called Prevoygrad on the western island (now Alpha).
Prevania was left to is own devices for a long time and the islands of Murtzin and Trostin (now Delta and Beta) were colonised.
In 1745, a colony was established by the British East India Company at New Slough in the eastern isle (now Gamma). The colony gradually expanded throughout the island, but left the Prevanians well alone.
In 1749, Trostin was invaded by the French for use as a naval base. They established the port of Libreville.
In 1754, the Prevanians were again invaded, this time by the Germans at Murzin. They razed the capital and built the new city of Jöberg.
This state of affairs prevailed until 1806, when the British East India Company, fortified by troops free up due to the ceasation of hostilities with the Marathian Empire, invaded the remaining three islands to unite the four isles under the name of British Prevania.
In 1858, taking advantage of the Indian Mutiny and the subsequent movement of British troops from Prevania to India, the Prevanians, under General Sturmovik, declared inderpendance. The British, realising that they were grossly outnumbered, surrendered and were granted one month to leave Prevania. A popular democratic government was formed and Sturmovik was elected Prime Minister. In a referendum, the Prevanian people elected to keep links with Britain, but to stay out of the Commonwealth.
Despite the efforts of British diplomats, Prevania stayed neutral during WW1. They did not see any fighting, but near the end of the war managed to intern a German destroyer. Onboard were found many technical drawings of artillery, which were taken and adapted for Prevanian use.
In 1927, the communist pro-New Ithican party, The Prevanian Peoples' Party, came to power after bitterly disputed elections. Needless to say, opponents of the new regieme soon 'disappeared'. Prevania was then joined with New Ithica and Prevenstein into the single nation of New Achea.
Strongly supportive of the USSR, New Achea declared war on Germany on June 24 1941, shortly after Operation Barbarossa commenced. The Achean Army Group Europe (600,000 men) was sent to help on the Russian Front, arriving in September to help defend Moscow. In Autumn 1942, with Achean forces in Russia reduced to just 300,000 men, a further 700,000 men were sent to Europe, forming Army Group North (550,000 men) and Army Group South (450,000 men). The Achean Seventh Army (50,000 men) was sent to Britain to help with the invasion of France. During 1944, a further 200,000 men were moved to Europe.
Being at the north of Allied lines, Achean forces avoided much of the Battle of the Bulge, leaving them ready to drive headlong into Germany.

Direktor
Direktor Boris Berovski of the Thalassocratic Oligarchy of Prevania, Minister for Procrastination, Protector of the Nation, High Admiral of the Combined Fleets, Grand Marshal of the Army, Victor of the Seventh Prevanian Air War, etc is the head of state of Prevania. The post of Direktor is lifelong and held until death. Upon death, the new Direktor is chosen from amongst high party officials by a popular vote.
Parliament
The Prevanian Parliament is situated in the capital city (Prevoygrad). It is comprised of 400 MPs, chosen by proportional representation in a general election every 3 years. They can vote on anything.
However, on matters of defence and the constitution, the Direktor has the final say and he has a veto which can be used unless there is a 75% majority.
The Prevanian Cabinet
All Sectretaries of State are members of the Cabinet. The Cabinet cannot make any decisions; it exists to advise and influence the Direktor.
Voting Rights
At the age of 18, all Prevanians must, by law, take a standardised IQ test, the PNIT (Prevanian National Intelligence Test). Only those who score above 100 (the 'average' score) are permitted to vote. Furthermore, you need an IQ over 110 for some jobs, including politicians and military officers. Prevania has adopted this system to make sure that the less intelligent are not able to do what is considered beyond their capability to do. There is much opposition to this, but it is strongly supported by the government and the military.

Geologists say that Prevania was formed about 200 million years ago by a 'super-volcano' that erupted extremely violently. This volcano is now extinct but has left behind four large islands in a circular shape. These islands originally had russian nams but, during the communist regime, they were changed to Alpha (north), Beta (west), Gamma (south) and Delta (east).

The Prevanian economy is centred around airship manufacturing and IT. Prevania only started to industrialise in 1930. However, these advances were wiped out in the 1950s and 1960s by the First Novan War and the democratic revolution. The nation started to rebuild its economy in the 1970s. Luckily, the oligarchic revolution, although it devastated the army, left the economy relitivly untouched. The aerospace companies branched into airship building in the 1980s at the command of Direktor Boris Berenovski, and this now accounts for a large portion of the Prevanian economy.
Compared to many other novan nations, Prevania has a low GDP per capita. This is mainly because Prevania has still not recovered from the spate of civil wars. Many are still in abject poverty, living in shanty towns at the outskirts of major cities, particuarly Libreville.

The Army, Navy, Air Fleet and Air Force are collectively known as the Prevanian Armed Forces (or His Direktor's Armed Forces) and officially the Armed Forces of the Thalassocratic Oligarchy of Prevania. The commander-in-chief is the head of state, Direktor Boris Berenovski and they are managed by the Ministry of Peace.
Prevania fields a very technologically advanced and well trained military. Recruitment is by volenteers, but due to the high social status and good pay, recruits are never in short supply. Apart from Alfegos, Prevania is almost unique in having an Air Fleet dedicated to airships.
Prevania does not possess nuclear weapons, though it has some nuclear warships and submarines.
The role of the Prevanian Armed forces is to protect Prevania and its interests. Prevania has also been charged with the protection of its dependancy, Prevenstein.
