The Batch of 2005 was dubbed by a disgruntled senior as the Invasion of the Delhites (they even had a Chom Squad which consisted of three Bengalis, a Tamilian and confused Arun Sagar). However, one group stood as a refreshing oasis of civilized South-Indian-ness. The wind rushing through the hair carried the sweet smell of the backwaters surrounded by coconut groves. They arched their eyebrows, conveyed a hundred things with their eyes, fed everyone curd rice and concealed weapons of mass destruction in their hair (Ok, this was only Aarti).

Like the Skulls and Bones, the Priory of Sion and the Knights Templar, the Sambhar Squad relied on a band of dedicated slaves from every alternate batch. Predominantly male this group included almost every power centre ever to exist in lawschool, from the SDGM Convenor (Mrinal), to a fourth of the Quad Council (Ritwik, Mayur, M.S Prashanth), to almost an entire batch of junior men (See Batch of 2007), their reach was far and wide. Their talents broke down the strongest of defences (See, Arjun Krishnan)

Individually each member of the Squad was unique, but together they were an institution. The Squad could have moved mountains, rescued kidnapped film stars, toppled Presidents and postponed exams if they wanted to. But they harnessed their activities for benovolent tasks such as organizing round tables, providing class notes, taking part in LnD and Cul Com events. Seemingly modest, much is still unknown about the impact of the S.S on Bangalore in the last five years.

The Sambhar Squad Official Members List

Note: Rumour is that Prerna Gandhi tried to join the Sambhar Squad by creating a rival power list of man-slaves single handedly but her plans were foiled by a clever comibination of Tamarind Rice, Kolam Power and three Kanjeevaram Sarees.
