Neha was the academic star of the class by a mile. That of course is beyond doubt (her CGPA was one of the highest ever), but her achievements in Law School were actually more varied than many people think - she was also an ace debater, a Jessup mooter, a very good singer, a member of Stud Ad, Rhodes scholar - the list could go on and on. Her drive and determination was extraordinary: she once broke her main hand trying to karate-chop a stack of bricks, and finding that not having a good hand was interfering with her work, she learnt how to write with her wrong hand in a couple of weeks!

Of course, all these inhuman qualities were complemented by a warm heart and a very human and almost childish naiveté - exemplified by her thinking that she could in fact break that stack of bricks - that made her likable, and also made her the object of constant teasing (she loved the attention, though she pretended not to!). An avid football fan, or so she claimed, she once stated that her favourite footballer was this guy called Mohun Bagan, whom she found very handsome.

That she was a darling of the faculty goes without saying - famously, Dr. Mohan Gopal used to send her chits in seminars, signed 'Mohan'! - but her pretty smile also managed to garner her fair share of male admirers. Her last two years in Law School were marked by a huge following of junior men (most of whose names began with A for some reason) that almost rivalled the consistency and inevitability with which she was racking up Os in every course. Her interests, however, were more usually in the direction of older men....

Currently studying in Oxford with the Rhodes scholarship, she has of late been seen painting Oxford parties a deep shade of scarlet. Hoping she continues to have fun while achieving all her lofty goals, here's to wishing Neha the very best.
