TMBG Numbers is a project I've been devising, which calculates the degrees of separation someone or something is from They Might Be Giants. Yes, it's a ripoff of the Bacon Number.
Below is a list of people/things and their TMBG Numbers and explanations. This is an ongoing project, so it'll be updated sometimes. Y'know, when I'm not lazy.
The List
- Nirvana — 2 — Kurt Cobain has stated that the Pixies had a great influence on him.
- Patrick Swayze — 4 — TMBG covered Hy Zaret's Why Does the Sun Shine. Zaret also wrote Unchained Melody, which was used in the soundtrack for Ghost, starring Patrick Swayze.
- Pixies — 1 — Frank Black of the Pixies toured with TMBG and covered Road Movie to Berlin. TMBG also covered his song Oddball.
- Reel Big Fish — 2 — RBF covered the Pixies' song Gigantic.
- "Weird Al" Yankovic — Weird Al has made a few TMBG references, most notably his song Everything You Know is Wrong, which is a TMBG style parody.
