Sponsorship Documents

From Ni Wiki

Sponsorship Documents include the venture website, the sponsorship brochure and the sponsor letter. Also important to creating the sponsorship documents is a well structured Levels of Sponsorship

[edit] Venture Website

Using the Nourish Network you can create home pages for each of your chapter's venture. The Nourish Network makes it easy for you to update and change information and doesn't require knowledge of web programming or HTML. Key pieces of information to have on the venture website include:

  • What is the event
  • History of the event
  • Where will it be held
  • Why the sponsor should care, aka. what do you provide for them? You will want to sell it as publicity and not charity. Playing to self-interest is everything.
  • What do they have to pay to get the publicity you're offering. This is encapsulated in the Levels of Sponsorship
  • Contact information

[edit] Sponsorship Brochure

The sponsorship brochure provides sponsors with a hard copy of the information that they can find on the website. Pretty sponsorship brochures are very nice but don't plan on spending a lot on brochures unless you really really think you need them. In the past HEFH at UNC-CH has spent $100 on 50 really nice brochures only to have a ton left over and no real sense that they made any difference. That being said, a brochure is a good way of presenting the information you need directly to local businesses and it is recommended that you have this kind of information on hand when you're making a pitch.

[edit] Sponsorship Letter

The sponsorship letter is the official statement written every year by the director of the tournament to sponsors. It should have the official Nourish International Letterhead on the top and the tax id number indicating your non-profit status. Here is a sample letter written by Graham Boone, the tournament director for HEFH 2007:

Dear Sir/ Madame

Living in such an affluent and privileged nation as the United States gives us all the opportunity to do our share in helping others across the globe. The 3rd Annual Hold ‘Em for Hunger Charity Poker Tournament (HEFH) is the easiest, most beneficial, and most rewarding opportunity for your business to directly involve itself in the betterment of thousands of lives, thousands of miles away. All of your efforts, combined with the collective work of the able and willing 2007 HEFH Executive Board, comprised of UNC-Chapel Hill students, can extend beyond the borders of our country and our minds through the funds raised for Nourish International, a student-run nonprofit organization. We hope that by reading below about the benefits our organization can offer yours, that you will assist Nourish International in our mission to set up fundraising ventures for financing and implementing economic developmental projects for global communities in dire need.

What is Hold ‘Em for Hunger?

HEFH is the largest charity poker tournament in North Carolina and one of the largest tournaments in the nation. This marks the third year that the tournament will be held and it is shaping out to be the largest and most successful yet. Hold ‘Em for Hunger 2006 was held on March 31, 2006 and had over 250 participants, raising a staggering $5,700 for Nourish International. The draw for participants is the key to our continued success. We offer a great opportunity to become involved in a philanthropic endeavor as well as the best prizes for any charity tournament in the country! The 2006 winner took home a 46” DLP HDTV, worth more than $2,500 and other participants laid claim to 60GB iPods, $350 Amazon Gift Certificates, STA Travel Packages, and many others that were given out through 40th place! We even gave out an iPod Nano ($150) to the champion of a rock-paper-scissors tournament held for the first 52 players knocked out of play! It was truly an inspiring day for Nourish International and UNC-Chapel Hill.

How can Hold ‘Em for Hunger help YOU?

Our tournament and your business will be a symbiotic relationship. HEFH offers the greatest on-campus advertisement of any organization at UNC-Chapel Hill. You will be given exclusive advertising opportunities to our immense student body for most of the spring semester through our website, fliers, t-shirts, and promotional rallies. Also, we gladly welcome in-kind donations, meaning that your top-selling merchandise or product can be given out as a prize at the tournament! If you want top-notch promotion, look no further than Hold ‘Em for Hunger 2007! We encourage you to visit www.holdemforhunger.org and click “Information for Sponsors” to learn more about this second-to-none opportunity.
