Strengths: Can use OpenID so users have one ID for a range of sites; can set up a network for users to join; allows voice posts, has its own IM and can post to your page from there; some more structured blogs have several people blogging together rather than a blog post and then comments which adds to the community feel; some UoB societies already have pages on there; doesn’t automatically delete old blog posts or groups.

Weaknesses: Seems to be aimed at teenagers (eg the mascot is a cartoon goat called Frank); as US based makes it difficult to avoid Birmingham, Alabama when searching; doesn’t automatically delete out of use groups so searches include groups that haven’t been updated for 4 years.

Opportunities: Has tried to bring the best parts of several sites together but needs more work as looks and feels a bit juvenile; lots of international bloggers so may be of interest to International students (predominantly Russian?!); seems to be relatively well known.

Threats: Other sites which specialise in (eg) blogging, social networking, provide these individual functions much better.
