SWOT

Contents

Strengths:

- Web-based

- Can group feeds into folders / sub-folders

- Can modify display options

Features: - Blog notifier - no need to log in, review feeds whenever you have time - 'Keep new' option (even when you've read a post) - Email a post instantly - Sharable blog-roll - Top 1000 feeds - Phil Bradley's fave !

Weaknesses

- slightly cumbersome to add a new feed (can't just darg and drop) - slightly old looking / feeling (is it still being developed?)

Opportunities

- Could use with researchers to show them how to get RSS for journals, WOS searchers - Our own CPD in LS - RSS from our webpages when re-launched? - Supporting academics in setting up RSS displays in webct (we managed to do this, but slightly faffy) - exporting and importing of feeds using OPML [CPD use? eg one person on a group / project sets up feeds and exports to all other members ] Need to test - promoting tools for finding blogs / RSS = technorati etc - RSS from our own blogs

Threats

- another tool to learn for users - would be useful to agree preferred RSS aggregator within LS, so we can fully exploit
