Koreatown is a half-floating subsection of Argos near the docks. The commercial section of the area is on land, and most of the residential areas consist of houseboats tied together. Many fishermen live on the outer edges of the floating camp; they simply untie their boats, go fishing, and tie up again at the end of the day. However, it's getting harder to find places to fish--a lot of the neighboring suburbs have overfished the bay.

The average resident of Koreatown is Asian, 35-40, and lives below the poverty line. 64% of the people sharing a domicile are living in a traditional family situation, with an average of 1.7 children per household.

Store owners usually live above the store, in small one or two bedroom apartments. A few of the single storeowners live in small shacks out back. Most store owners rent the property and building that houses their wares; very few own.

The most common type of store is the ethnic grocery store; Japanese and Chinese tend to outnumber the Indian, Korean, and Thai, but not by much. Teahouses and restaurants are also very common.

Places to Note

  • The Lotus Teahouse - renowned for its fantastic selection of teas and Oriental delicacies.
  • The Golden Pearl - it sounds pricy, but it serves the best Oriental food in all of Argos County.
  • Al's Indian Grocery - Simply named and often overlooked, the store is a happily kept secret among the natives.
