Damesi Park was created in 1906 and named after the founder of Argos, Bartholomew Damesi. A statue of him stands at the Main Street entrance.

The park is made up of 300 acres (1.21 km^^2^^), and is bordered by Main, Strand, Centre, and Proctor Streets.

There is a baseball/softball diamond, soccer field, and two playgrounds in the park, along with meandering paths and various enclosed shelters for rental.

There are twice-yearly fireworks displays put on in Damesi Park--one on the 4th of July, and one on Argos Day, which is celebrated in early September, weather permitting.

Argos Day is a huge event in the city. The park fills with vendors, and there are contests, games, and raffles available all day long. The park takes on a carnival-like atmosphere.
