Sysops (or System Operators) are normal people. The are endowed with special rights that enable them to do incredible things, but deep inside they are the same. Despite this, they are generally portrayed as a step-up; Sysops are largely considered as more powerful than Patrollers but have less abilities than the incredible Bureaucrats.
In Legend of the Infinite Empire, Sysops are the only ones that can stop the Prince of Darkness, each one containing a special power.
In the Super MarioWiki video game, each playable character can be leveled up into a sysop except for Porplemontage (already a sysop) and Peachycakes (only playable on the last level of the game, and it takes many levels to make a character a sysop).
