The World is unrest. The Empire unites much of the civilized world into an image of peace and law. The governments of the East are obsessed with technological advancement, introducing new marvels to the world on an almost-weekly basis. Meanwhile, shamans from the North cling to their old ways, manipulating the Leylines of the earth itself to create their own wonders.
On the frontier, pirates roam, largely governing themselves free from centralized civilization, dividing the wild outback into unofficial "spheres of influence" among competing law breakers. And all the while, the terrorist group Liberi Libertas runs rampant, sowing turmoil and strife.
These are the days of adventure.
