Gunsmith evolved from a character known as Viper in the original 'Super MS Paint Brawl!' thread on Newgrounds. Viper's powers included the ability to spawn guns from thin air with no need to reload them unless "it looks cool," and resistance to self-inflicted environmental damage, such as that from jumping off a building. When [[User:Grent|Grent]] joined the Super Paint Brawl forum some time later (after following a link [http://sonofbalto.proboards92.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=nitroexplosion nitroexplosion] had sent him shortly after the lock of the original thread), he used a modified version of Viper known as Gunsmith. Gunsmith kept all of Viper's powers with the addition of an allergy to shellfish (mainly added as a gag). Gunsmith mainly differed from Viper in design; instead of a black stick figure with triangular eyes, Gunsmith was a blue stick figure with white, semicircular eyes outlined in black. Gunsmith evolved from a character known as Viper in the original 'Super MS Paint Brawl!' thread on Newgrounds. Viper's powers included the ability to spawn guns from thin air with no need to reload them unless "it looks cool," and resistance to self-inflicted environmental damage, such as that from jumping off a building.
