Wuhu Island is a small tropical island in Mushroom World (See Super Mario Wiki). It has a long and rich history, beginning many years ago.

History of Wuhu Island

Wuhu Island was formed millennia ago when volcanic activity raged under the ocean off the coast of Sarasaland. When the lava finally cooled, it had created an island a few square miles across. At some point, two groups of people, possibly related to the humans that now inhabit the Mushroom Kingdom arrived by boat, settling the island. On the north side settled an incredibly advanced civilization. Within a few years, they had built vast citadels on the cliffs there. No one knows how they got the bricks there, or how they built them to fit so closely. But they did it, and controlled the island for centuries... until the arrival of the second tribe that is.

A large group of neolithic men found the southern island, and colonized it. They built huge, yet crude, monoliths all over the southern shores. These they dragged to the places where they thought the "Great Spirits" resided; the forest, the cliffs, and even in the volcano! But it didn't last. The more advanced civilization, finding them crude savages, attacked them and destroyed that they had, forcing them to flee.

Approximately one-hundred years ago, the Miis, discovering the island, built a small town, Miitown, on its southern shores. Since then, the Miis have spread, founding a small village on the north side. Yet another village was founded just to the north of the main town. Twenty years after founding Miitown was founded, a dictatorship formed. One of the Miis, who they made their king, had a large manor house built on the shore of Duckling Lake. From here, he could overlook the entire southern side, and could control the mountain passes that led to the north. Since then, the Miis of Wuhu Island have become a democracy; the only known in all of the Mushroom World.

Culture of Wuhu Island

The island has a culture that is unique, and yet at the same time, mixes in other cultures. During the years of the dictatorship, sword-fighting became a regular sport, and any Mii who could best others in swordplay was highly honored. Archery was also common practice, as it allowed for the hunting of animals, such as ducks and coyotes, which were abundant on the island at the time. wii_sports_resort_image10.png
