Character Background

Dev's second character. Due to hating his first character, Devlin Fragston, Dev created Leon, wanting a character that could possibly go either way. As such, Leon is an anti-social character, hating anything that makes too much noise besides music. Dev tends to enjoy posting as this character more.

Tools of the Trade

His handy dandy notebook!

Powers

The Notebook: The notebook that Leon possesses is not just an ordinary notebook, but instead is one of his powers. The notebook itself has the mysterious ability to alter inanimate objects after they have been drawn in detail on one of its pages. In order to alter the scenery, however, the drawing must be accurate, requiring a good artist, and current, meaning that a drawing sketched a week ago may not work if someone has gone through and broken some branches on a tree. The process of altering the landscape is quite simple, actually. All that would be needed to, let’s say, cut down the said branches would be a simple slash mark through the said branches, and a few seconds later, they would fall. This power is not purely linked to Leon, as anyone who comes in touch with his notebook would be able to make changes as long as they know how to use it, although Leon does in fact possess ownership.

Liquefaction: Soil liquefaction describes the behavior of water saturated soil when its behavior changes from that of a solid to that of a liquid. Some types of liquefaction include quicksand, quick clay, turbidity currents, and earthquake liquefaction. Liquefaction occurs when the contact stress (effective stress) between solid soil particles is reduced. The reduction in contact stress can be caused by water flowing upward in the case of quicksand and excess pore water pressure caused by ground shaking in the case of earthquake liquefaction. Deposits most susceptible to liquefaction are young (Holocene-age, deposited within the last 10,000 years) sands and silts of similar grain size (well-sorted), in beds at least several feet thick, and saturated with water. Such deposits are often found along riverbeds, beaches, dunes, and areas where windblown silt (loess) and sand have accumulated.

What does this have to do with Leon, you ask? Well, by a process of simple concentration and the use of his true special ability, Leon can, in fact, cause the liquefaction of the earth around him while leaving a patch in the center solidified so that he can maintain a foothold. At the current time the radius of this is only about two feet, which is just far enough so that he cannot be reached without jumping towards him.

Personality

Unlike some students, one Leon Khagma enjoys peace and quiet more than anything else. Chaos makes his ability to concentrate rocket down to nothing. As such, he tends to despise anything that could be classified as “chaotic,” including, but not limited to, loud people, loud noises, and massive groups of people. The one loud thing he actually enjoys is music, and he can usually always be found with earphones in his ears, although he may not be listening all the time. Due to his love of calm, Leon is most often found in places of nature, most of the time only returning to the school for either class or sleep.

Leon’s life pretty much centers around his notebook, in which many intricate drawings and sketches are located, usually of nature. It seems that ever since Leon got a hold of his mysterious notebook he has been infatuated with drawing the world around him, and if one were to search through his sketches, many different locations have been drawn. Leon seems to enter a depressive state whenever the notebook leaves his side, which quickly turns to anger once he realizes that someone has taken it. Although hard, Leon can be convinced to show off his hard work or draw the person who is questioning him.

Biography

How often is it that one hears of a perfect childhood: loving parents, caring family, popular at school, athletic, spoiled? Not very often, you’d assume. Well, Leon Khagma’s story isn’t any different than anybody else’s, save for a couple facts.

Leon Khagma was born in the lone star state, Texas. Fort Worth, to be exact. His father was a surgeon and his mother was a professional painter, so it was only fitting that they gave birth to a nice little boy that went by the name of Leon. The boy grew up for the first few years of his life normally, taking in all the sights and sounds that his naturally intricate brain could handle.

When Leon was three, his grandfather had a heart attack. In order to avoid having to fly out in case of another, Leon’s family decided to pack up and move out to California. Instead of moving into their own house, what better way to take care of an ailing grandfather than taking up shop with him? As a result, Leon was, for the most part, left unattended and free to do whatever he pleased. As he grew up he went on walks with his grandfather, who had always been a huge fan of nature. At the age of six, the boy moved yet again, this time to Colorado.

It was in Colorado where Leon spent the next eight years of his life. It wasn’t exactly smooth, as his parents got divorced only a year after moving. Leon wasn’t exactly the most popular kid in the elementary school, often getting picked on for just admiring whatever nature had to show him around the playground. It was on one of these nature-loving days that Leon’s father found out about Leon’s unique ability to liquefy the earth around him. Leon was pushed down to the ground by one of the usual bullies. As he pushed himself onto his knees, he looked down at the ground and saw it trembling. His father had just pulled up when the bully ran away.

A couple years later at the age of eleven, Leon’s father gave him an interesting notebook that had been given to him by a tribal leader on one of his expeditions to Zimbabwe. He had no idea what the notebook was supposed to be used for, but inside there were drawings of nature with slash marks all over the place. Leon’s father simply regarded it as something superstitious, and so gave it to Leon. Unbeknownst to the adult, Leon’s hobbies were about to be eliminated. As soon as the boy had picked up a pencil and began drawing, he was somehow linked to the notebook. Mimicking the drawings, Leon found out that he could alter the nature around him by simply hacking through it on paper.

Leon had become obsessed with drawing in the notebook, and the paper never seemed to run out. Soon there were seemingly hundreds of pages inside, and the only way to get rid of the ones that weren’t needed was to rip them out. At the age of 13, Leon and his father moved to Rome, New York, not incredibly far away from Buffalo. Still remembering the incident with his son from a couple years ago and wondering why tree branches were randomly falling from the trees that previously owned them, Leon’s father did some research about humans with special abilities. He sent his son to one Manga High School, where Leon has resided since freshman year. It is only a year later that his true story will begin.
