Basics
From Mchs Theater
A Wiki is a community maintained collection of information. The purpose of this wiki is to capture thoughts and stories about Middle Creek theater.
Any article in this wiki can be edited by you. At the top of the article are tabs that let you discuss the article, edit the content, or watch the page so you're informed of changes.
Wikitext has its own markup language. There are plenty of references on the Web and a few tips under Help in this wiki. To get started, probably the easiest thing to do is start with an existing page that you like and go from there.
In this wiki, there are two basic types of articles,
The Show articles talk about individual shows. They typically have links to cast and crew members, stories about the show itself, etc.
The other type of articles are about individuals. These will probably read a lot like bios in a program. There is an article called PeopleTemplate that you can use as a starting point.
Editing an existing article
Couldn't be easier. Click the edit tab at the top of the article. Use the Show Preview button at the bottom of the edit pane to see how your text looks. Be sure and save your page when finished
Creating a new article
If you see a red hyperlink, it refers to a page that has not yet been created. All you have to do is click on it and you'll be taken to the edit menu. Once the article has been created, the hyperlink will turn blue.
If there is no placeholder for the article you want to create, the best way to do this is to create an internal link from an existing page. For example, lets say that you are Frances Flautist and were a flute player in the pit for Guys and Dolls and the orchestra hadn't been added to the Guys and Dolls page yet.
Edit the Guys and Dolls page, and at the appropriate point, insert something like
Flute: [[Frances Flautist]]
After you save the page, Frances Flautist would be a red hyperlink that could be clicked on and added. Again, you'd probably want to use the page PeopleTemplate for some text to get started.
