Luigi is a fictional character created by Nintendo's game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. He is potrayed as the younger brother of Nintendo's official mascot, Mario. Luigi first appeared in the arcade game Mario Bros., where he was featured as the main character alongside Mario. Since his debut, Luigi has appeared in many games throughout the Mario series, often accompanying Mario as the central protagonist, but at times starring as the main character of his own games. However at times Luigi is usually in his brother's shadow due to his some-what cowardly personality.
