a new day for a mission

"I am your Mother, child, and I have always loved you. And I will always love you. Come back, my dear child: I have been waiting, and I will always be waiting, because I love you."
-Gaia, the Mother of All, spoken to the Sorrowful Singer of the Final Requiem, Midnight Caste Abyssal

Love endures.

Love endures, and no more so then that of Gaia, the Mother of All: she loves all of Creation, and all of her children, with a boundless, unconditional, merciful love, no matter who they are or what they have done, and she calls her wayward ones back to her, with a soft touch and gentle voice, as she is their Mother. Whether they choose to listen or not, that is their will, for her children have free will, but she will always, always love them.

A sad-eyed, sweet-voiced young man, walks among the people of Creation. And when he walks, he sings, soft sweet songs of the love of Gaia, the Mother of All, her unconditional, giving, eternal love, to bring them hope and bring them reminders that love does wait for them, that no matter how bad it gets, someone will always love them.

Lycoris, as he calls himself now, knows this, better then almost anyone. For while he glows with the light of the sun and the fire that burns in his soul, for his cause, for the love of the Mother, he remembers what it was to walk in darkness.

Once, he was a young man, a singer of talent but who became very ill young and never had his chance at glory, who lived and died alone and forgotten, died of consumption, wasting away. And as he lay dying, coughing out his life, a little girl came to him, and offered him her hand. Whispered to him that it wasn't fair of him to die like this, alone. Offered him a chance to go on living, if he would only come with her and take her hand.

He'd thought he wasn't afraid to die. It wasn't death that frightened him.

(it was the thought of always being alone).

And the young man took her hand. And thus he died, and thus he went on living, and it was a moment too late when he realized the price of what he had just agreed to.

And still empty and alone, he cast his name into the Void, and took up the title that his Deathlord, She Who Walks In Shadows' Twilight, gave to him. And as the Sorrowful Singer of the Final Requiem, he traveled throughout Creation, and with soft sweet songs of melancholy and whispers, drained hope, gently guiding those who heard towards Oblivion-for if there was nothing left to strive for, nothing left to believe in, nothing left to hold onto, then what else was there but dissolution?

All the while, he grew colder and emptier, with nothing to hold onto, nothing, and he drifted.

Until, one day, he met a woman.
