[edit] History

Alexia Solana was born in Constantinople, the daughter of a Byzantine magistrate. She was once demure and reserved, a shy young maiden whose delight was in scholarship and learning, but not simply the learning of the temporal world: even though sacred texts were forbidden to her, she did her best with what she had, looking into the occult (and even though she was normally obedient, she was passionate enough to try to study sacred texts on the sly, if she could manage to get away with it). A near-perfect memory and talent for languages aided her in her scholastic endeavors: her facility with languages and scholarship, combined with her deep sprituality, brought her to the attention of Symeon: the young woman never could have dreamed the paths that her scholarly ways would take her down, until it was too late to turn back.

For a while, Alexia was content among the Obertus monks (unlike her sire's other childe, Myca Vykos), content to believe in the Gesudian precepts of the Within, content with what she had been taught and to walk on the Road of Heaven. However, a chance encounter with the Setite Sinner Kanika shook her faith to the core, as Kanika proceeded to punch holes into everything Alexia had known, and with every subsequent meeting with the Setite, a little more of her faith fell away. At the time, Alexia had no idea that Kanika was slowly freeing her mind and soul from the chains she saw tying her down, that the Sinner had seen what lay beneath. Slowly but surely, Kanika opened the Tzimisce's eyes, and Alexia stepped at last off the Road of Heaven onto the Road of Sin. It is Alexia's secret that a Setite taught her the precepts of the Road she now follows.

While Alexia is still a scholar at heart, she has become a great deal more worldly then she was, and turned to diplomacy as a way of achieving her ends and as a way to travel outside of Constantinople, in a search for a possible safe haven should the feared disaster come: for she, like many others, sees the fact that the city is falling apart...
