an opal for a wound you carry;

Marias is an young man filled with wrath: angry, bitter, sardonic, and mouthy, as well as aggressive, and he swears like a sailor. He has tact on occasion, he just doesn't use it. He has a temper, kept burning bright by his years in Arcadia, and his years as a doll have only made him more stubborn. He was already rebellious to some degree before his Durance, but now, he postively has control issues the size of the sun. He will not allow anyone else to control him, ever again, and he has major problems with authority figures.

And he is not fragile. Not weak. Not the silly spineless doll he appears to be.

(he is also not a girl. No matter what he was transformed into, no matter what. Women can be strong, too, he's just not one. No matter his body.)

the more you push through broken worlds;

Perhaps, if things were different, he could have been someone. Intelligent, beautiful, and talented, he was a scholarship ballet student at Julliard: he was also just a bit rebellious, but perhaps he would have grown out of in time, had it not been for him catching the eye of one of the True Fae, who kidnapped him during the middle of opening night of a student ballet he was in, and dragged him through the Thorns.

The True Fae, Mother Harlot, had long-desired a child, to be a mother, and she had brought another changeling through the Thorns to be her favored child. Except that children needed toys, and she brought others through the Thorns to transform into various different toys to amuse her son, Edward. Marias, too, was to suffer this fate: his Keeper fashioned him, slowly, into a porcelain doll for her child, a beautiful doll for him to play with and to set on the shelf when she was not playing. A beautiful girl doll.

And thus his time in Arcadia passed. It was not...bad, as things went, comparatively speaking, especially as he had very little contact with Mother Harlot herself, and Edward, while brutish, stupid, and loathsome, and exceedingly selfish, nearly as selfish as a True Fae, was not utterly alien, and the sort of games he favored were certainly simple to understand, as he kept his toys as concubines, not treating any of them especially gently. Marias was, much to his extreme displeasure, Edward's favorite, referred to as "HIS girl", his favorite toy. Ironically-and Marias found some dark amusement in this-, Edward forgot about him every time he was playing with something or someone else, left him on the shelf and completely forgot he existed. And Edward was a jealous, jealous man-boy when it came to his toys, especially "his girl": he killed at least two other changelings, as well as a dozen hobgoblins, for touching or even interacting with Marias.

This went on for...a number of years. Not many, and Marias never broke, he endured. And got angrier.

Inwardly, behind the placid doll-smile, Marias raged. His actions and even his own body were not his own anymore, but at least his mind was still his own. He had always been beautiful and graceful, but he was intelligent as well, far smarter then Edward. And he planned. And he waited.

And one night, he escaped. One night, when Edward was occupied with something else and had forgotten about him, he slipped off his shelf and away, ran like a bitch and got through the Thorns, the memory of his life Before, of the freedom he'd had, his guide Back.

He returned to discover that four years had passed. That the shadow of him, who had stolen his life, was successful, had graduated from Julliard with the degree that should have been his, gotten a job in a highly successful ballet company.

(Marias isn't finished with him by a longshot).

But with lack of really anything better to do, he wandered into LA. Got a job at a call center, where he daily deals with idiots who piss him off, and somehow hasn't lost said job yet.

But then, the past always has a way of coming back...

while others look at you on show;

With the Mask, Marias is a tall, slender young man of extremely striking beauty, easily beautiful enough to be a model, pale. He wears his black hair long, to maybe his waist, and braided back severely. He dresses in dark colors, mostly grays and blacks, dark slacks and a black or gray turtleneck, black boots. Unless it's summer, in which he'll wear a collared shirt with short sleeves. He has a deep baritone voice that has a hint of a delicate tone to it, and somehow some...girlishness.

He carries a black umbrella with him.

cause you're dancing dirt into the snow;

Beneath the Mask, Marias is a tall, slight young girl, lithe and slender, still a hair beneath six feet tall, an otherworldly beauty of pale, porcelain perfection...his features are perfect, a doll's porcelain loveliness, his eyes a luminous, deep and bright shade of green, unnaturally long lashes framing them, hair long and black like the feathers of a raven, braided with a deep violet ribbon running through the braid. Makeup-eyeshadow, lipstick-is forever painted on, perfectly and tastefully applied. His hands are small and delicate, his entire body is dainty. Everything he wears, no matter what he does, ends up just a bit...feminine. Black lace on his turtlenecks, sparkly embroidery on his slacks, things like roses and butterflies, black boots with slight heels and looking like something a gothic lolita would wear. If he does not concentrate on keeping it otherwise, his expression will revert to the blank content smile of a doll. When he speaks, it is a low, musical alto, somehow...delicate, no matter his own personal tone of voice.

The umbrella he always carries (in which he has his sword) ends up frilly and lacy too. Like a gothic lolita's umbrella.
