The Temple of Kand (Also: "Temple of the Enlightened," or simply "The Enlightened," though this may cause some confusion), worships the god of light, Kand, and currently heads Kandonia's theocratic government. Originally, the Temple was more of a cult, but mysterious funds and activities brought their religion into power in northern Ajyendar, and they broke off into their own country.

The temple's members consist of 4 ranks: Dedicated, Disciplined, Enlightened, and Perfected. The Perfected are, practically, non-existant, but even the Disciplined are incredibly skilled in both mind and body. The Power of Kand is essentially divided into three branches representing different qualities of the god: "benevolent," "subtle," and "relentless." These specializations may be followed after achieving the rank of Enlightened. "Harsh" was also a branch until it was deemed to be too uncharacteristic of the Kand they worshipped; this removed branch is believed to have evolved into The Awakening. In general, Kand grants his followers light-based powers; for example, lack of shadow-casting, summoning lights, and even light intangibility and near weightlessness (these being very selective; the weightlessness does not mean they can float around, but rather they can nimbly run along walls, jump higher and farther, and balance more easily).
