Utterdom is a kingdom comprised of seventeen counties, each controlled by a Duke or Duchess. These Seventeen are sworn to the King, and each hold title and lineage that offer them the title of Lords and Ladies. They serve as the ruling hand in their county, and carry out the will of the king. This has been the seating of power since King Percival Utter III united the lands and claimed the unified crown.
Your father, King Maril Utter X is much loved by the people. His taxation is minimal, his concern for the peasants great, and his kindness legendary. Unlike his father, King Maril prefers to deal with all politics directly, and believes that discussion can serve greater than war. While the King is loved, you, his only son, find that the people are staunchly divided on opinion of you. Some think you live in excess and cruelty, others say you are just like your father. However, since you have been sheltered from the people, few but you know the truth.
As far as you know from tales told to you by your court, Utterdom is a kingdom of lushness, beauty, and wealth, where it's citizens are free to pursue whatever they see fit.
