The Liberal Party of Lichentia is an active political party in Lichentia.
History
Formation
The Liberal party was first founded by Bandaloon on November 21st, 2006. As the only member, he automatically became the chairman of the party.
The first incarnation of the manifesto for the party came the next day, in the form of the manifesto of the liberal party of liberalia. The manifesto would be edited several times over the course of the next year.

Philosophy
We exist to safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community. "Peace, Freedom, Equality and Justice" are the values that Lichentia is based on, and we feel they are the most important thing any individual can have. Here in the liberal party, we believe the best thing for the government to do make sure everyone is served those rights in order to fufill a life full of happiness.
Taxation
There shall be no income tax. The only taxes will be on the working population, to maintain welfare programs such as Social security and health care. Their will also be a regional lottery, and taxes on several goods.
Tariffs
We will allow free trade and discourage the use of subsidies both within the region and outside the region. This will mean that everyone will be able to compete on a fair and level terms with each other leading to growth in the economy and increased wealth for poorer and richer nations. This will also lead to the end of uncompetitive, inefficient industries and work sectors. However, in interest of protecting the environment, their will be regulations on emissions and resource consumption.
We will not allow trade with any regions Lichentia is officially at war with.
Education
In a capitalist society, a good education is key. Public schools will be available to all children.
We will allow the creation of schools that have a main religious ethos, however, these schools will be required to teach a general education to students in addition to their religious beliefs. These schools must not discriminate against students on basis of religion.
Any attempts to victimize misbehaving children will be sternly opposed because if we remove education opportunities to them, they will continue in the same vein and will not be useful members of society.
In general education schools, Creationism will not be taught as it is not a valid science and we will oppose any attempts to implement it into biology lessons whether known as creationism or intelligent design.
Health
We believe the provision of health care should be made available at a regional level in order to allow all Lichentian citizens the best chance of living long and healthy lives.
Soft drugs, such as marijuana and minor hallucinogens will be decriminalized. There will be a tax on these drugs and producers of them will have to meet health guidelines. These and cigarettes will be banned in public areas, but may be used in private. We support the woman’s right to choose abortion on demand until 20 weeks of pregnancy for any reason. Above 20 weeks, only on grounds of disability or health and safety risk to mother.
Foreign Affairs
We will continue to maintain a defensive force for the region, and we condemn the actions of invader regions. We will welcome refugees and political exiles, we will welcome economic refugees as they will contribute to the economy of the nation they belong to.
We will oppose dictatorships but will always consider diplomacy first and war as a last resort.
Justice/Crime
The amount of prisons will be greatly reduced, and the remaining prisons will be privatized. To replace the removed prisons, fines will be implemented for most first offenses, misdemeanors, and other minor crimes. We believe that in a free market, money is a greater resource to lose than time. Capital punishment will be banned.
We will not remove jury trials, we will not implement ID cards. We will implement banning orders of individuals or groups who act in a anti-social way whether in their homes or in public
Despite the freedom to protest, threats of murder or terrorist acts will not be tolerated, this includes animal rights protesters; islamic fundamentalists and seperatists to name a few.
Guns
Guns will be banned from being privately owned. Only the police and military forces will be allowed to have firearms, and only while on duty. Private businesses will be allowed to own firearms to rent out at shooting ranges and hunting grounds, but they must get a license first.
Prostitution
We believe whatever goes on in your bedroom is your buisness and no one has a right to force morality on you.
Street prostitution will be banned and all prostitutes, rent boys, escorts and gigolos will work for regulated private businesses. These companies may work from brothels or be hired over phone and internet. They will also have the right to form unions.
This will have the effect of removing pimping.
