[edit] Character Name
- Name: Abhinav Patil
- Bloodine: Pure
- Birthplace: Calcutta, India
- Class: Upper
- Year: 7th
- House: Gryffindor
- Wand: Dogwood and Veela Hair, 11 1/2"
Dogwood symbolizes charm and finesse, and increases one’s social abilities and personality. This in combination with a core of Veela hair makes a wand that is very useful for all kinds of charms related to persuasion, seduction and illusion. The wizard or witch chosen by this wand is usually an actor or somebody with a gift for the visual arts. He or she likes being at the center of attention, usually due to an attractive personality rather than any actual accomplishments. But s/he can also be a very talented performer who brings entertainment and healing through the creation of beauty. On the darker side, this person may also be a skilled, sometimes compulsive, liar who puts on a mask to hide his/her true, and less colourful personality.
[edit] Personality
Abhi is one of the most easy going people you could ever meet. He’s usually calm and collected, with an ever present smile on his face. Even if you do something to him or one of his friends that is unforgivable, he doesn’t get angry. He’ll throw a few well thought out insults your way and start plotting his revenge. He’s not your typical Gryffindor who’ll run into a fight without thinking; he has a self-preserving attitude. He will, however, always fight for a cause he believes in, or for his friends. Even physically if he must. Abhi is one of those friends who will always be there if it comes down to it. He’s not trusting in the least, preferring to keep his thoughts to himself and not bothering with getting too close to people, but once you’ve earned his confidence you’ve made a friend for life. He may come across as snobby at times, but he's really very grounded. There are just times when there's a bit of a "culture clash" and he is simply acting in the way he was raised. He's never one to offend, and usually feels absolutely horrible after insulting someone, even when it's provoked. All around, Abhi tries to be a good guy, and usually succeeds.
[edit] Physical Description
Abhi has a very, VERY tall dark and handsome look about him. His tan complexion, dark brown eyes and slightly shaggy black hair have one him the hearts of many a woman. Or at least their lust. He, more often than not, has some sort of facial hair on his face, be it stubble or a fully grown beard, mainly because he just can’t be arsed to shave as often as he’d need to. Even when not in uniform, Abhi has a tendency to dress well. He’s not really a fan of casual clothes at all, and doesn’t understand why people wouldn’t want to look their best at all times. This doesn’t go to the, we’ll call it, “Lockhart” extreme, however. It’s not because he feels he’s better than everyone else, it’s because he was raised that way.
[edit] History
Abhinav Patil was born on November 3rd, 1959 to purebloods Jignesh and Chandra Patil in Calcutta. The Patils were not an unhappy family, but they certainly weren’t the most affectionate. Jignesh and Chandra were the product of a marriage that was arranged before they were old enough to talk. They were never in love, but they could tolerate each other. Jignesh had mistresses and Chandra devoted her life to her little Abhi. So, of course, Abhi grew up believing that this was the way things were. That people married for convenience and not love. He accepted this until he started attending school in England. His father was, more or less, the head of the village they lived in because he was well learned in an English school. Of course Jignesh would want the same for his son. He made an arrangement with Headmaster Albus Dumbledore similar to the one his father had made for him when he was young. His son would attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry just as he had as a boy.
Upon arriving in England, Abhi was introduced to a completely new world. Children were talking back to their elders. Girls were wearing such obscene clothes…and they were talking to boys! Even teasing them! Boys who were dressed so casually, and teased him for his clothes. His first train ride was interesting to say the least. He sat with a few other students his age, and they were all worried about which house they’d be in. He could have laughed at them. He had to be in Ravenclaw, like his father. It was just how it was going to be. Much to his dismay, he was sorted into Gryffindor, along with four other boys that year. Apparently, though his mind was wise, his heart was strong and would do better in Gryffindor.
He’s now in his final year at Hogwarts and he’s having rather mixed emotions about leaving. As much as he’d love to be done with school forever, he’s not exactly sure if he wants to return to the world of his parents. Back to the discipline. Back from this strange, yet exciting world of the English. Back to the fiance he has waiting for him. He’s almost jealous of the other students. They may not be as well off financially or socially as he is back home, but they certainly have more options in their life than he.

[edit] Astrology
- Birthday: November 3rd, 1959
- Sign: SCORPIO: The Scorpion. Fixed, water, yin - planetary rulers: Mars and Pluto. Keywords: "I DESIRE"
Scorpio is the eighth house of the Zodiac and governs the genitalia. Positive traits include magnetic charisma, ambition, drive, a penetrating mind, curiosity, intensity of focus, emotional depth, consistency, persistence, willpower, and the potential for inner transformation and regeneration; negative traits include selfishness, obsessiveness, vindictiveness, hypersensitivity, ruthlessness, cynicism, an inability to understand the word "moderation," and jealousy. It is said that Scorpios embody both the best and the worst of all that are born under the stars, and that there are three kinds of Scorpios: wicked scorpions, cunning serpents, and saintly eagles. What each Scorpio becomes is entirely up to that Scorpio.
[edit] Gryffindor Scorpians
Expect stamina, incredible courage, intense and stormy emotions, burning idealism, and indomitable will. Gryffindor Scorpios are never drawn in shades of pastel; they are always blood red and mesmerizing gold. There are few followers born under these aspects; Scorpios born into this house tend to be either leaders or loners. They are well placed on the Quidditch field, where their natural competitive streak and their great store of personal energy make them natural Beaters (or, really, naturals at any position on the field). Expect them to get into frequent duels, and expect them to gravitate naturally to DADA, for all Scorpios are fascinated by anything dark and forbidden, and Gryffindor Scorpios will want to take their place as defenders as early in their careers as possible. Expect passion. Expect wisdom. But don't expect a lot of time to take a breather. Many people born under this aspect also end up as Aurors; they're the perfect "bad cops" to the "good cop" Libra wizards.
