Springfield

brother!I don't think we should read too much into the team niacekmns. But I must concede that many people were happy that the "Patriots" won right after the 9/11 attacks. Dallas was not America's team because they're called the Cowboys. It was because;*Dallas represents doing it up big, which is what football games are about.*Gil Brandt, personnel director, was a marketing genius.*The Cheerleaders - capitalized on the Farrah, Cheryl, Charlies Angel's cheesecake era and kept men from 14-74 glued to their sets.*Dallas was winning championships, with style and pizazz (The Hail Mary started there). *Dallas was going through an oil boom and was creating new millionaires who were flamboyantly backing the Cowboys.*The TV show was getting monstrous publicity with the whole "who shot JR" deal. *Dallas was the best team in the Western time zone, so it got the coveted 2nd game of the Sunday doubleheader time slot. According to your nickname theory, the Redskins could never be America's team, correct? Actually, the Redskins were very popular as a rival to the Cowboys and when they were winning Super Bowls with Joe Gibbs. Of course, black folks still speak fondly of the 'Skins because of Doug Williams and Super Bowl double deuce.
