Spriingfield City Hall opened in a spacious new building, the former Spring Village, in September [1981]], moving from cramped quarters on North 4th Street, where the police station and municipal court now stand. But those quarters were roomy compared to the earliest City Hall, a room in front of a one-bay fire station. The first City Hall in Springfield was located on the north side of Main Street between 2nd and Third Streets.
