Alberta Miller

The funeral will be held Jan. 5 for Alberta P. "Pauline" Miller of Forest Grove, formerly of Springfield and Florence, who died December 29 of age-related causes. She was 84.

Miller was born August 11, 1917, in Alberta, Canada, to G.A. and Ella Rickman Swanson. She graduated from Cloverdale High School in Oregon in 1934.

She married Howard Miller in Vancouver, Wash., on Nov. 30, 1934. They lived in McKenzie Bridge, Springfield, Corvallis and Florence. He died March 31, 1994.

She worked in retail sales and owned the Bible Book Store. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping and hunting. Miller was a member of the Florence Christian Church, the Martha Chapter No. 48 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Oregon Grange.

Survivors include two sons, Robert of Gardiner and James of La Pine; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A granddaughter, Calista Purdy, died previously.

Saturday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Florence Christian Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Burns' Riverside Chapel/Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star.
