Rosena Dunnington appliqued a quilt before her marriage to John B Salsman in 1865 in Missouri. The Salsmans came to Oregon by train in 1885 and settled at Irving where her grandfather had a store and wagon shop. They bought the farm that is now Bush Peach and Filbert Farm.

They donated one acre of land for Red Oak School. They had a daughter named Nellie.
