Light, The

From Kronthor Wiki

The Light is an ancient entity of Goodness. The God of Good, Max, was able to slip into Kronthor by the worship of The Light. Some claim that Max is The Light, in another form. Others claim that Max is the true God of Good, while the worshippers of The Light are just nutty.

Mythology of The Light

Long before men walked the earth, long before the sun and moon battled for dominance of the sky, there was the air. In this air a bright Light shone. The Light shone with Its Brilliance, and It was content. But over time, It grew lonely. I must have a companion, It thought. So The Light took from the air the wind, and from it fashioned the spirits. For a time, The Light and the spirits were content. But over time the spirits grew weary. "Oh great one!" They cried. "We are tired! May we not have bodies to rest in, and a world to lay upon?" The Light thought long and hard over this request, and in the end told the spirits "I will do this, but you must promise never to forget me. If I am forgotten, the world will cease to exist. You must take great care." The spirits quickly agreed, assuring The Light that they all would sing Its Praises and worship Its Radiance. And the Light shone forth with a greater Brilliance than ever before, and with pure thought and heart did Kronthor come into being. The spirits were blown into the bodies of the animals, and they were delighted at their new forms. For centuries they kept their promises. They sung The Light's Praises and worshipped Its Radiance. But over time the spirits grew complacent. Many of them could hardly remember the being they called The Light. They did not understand the purpose of the hymns and prayers. And so the world began to age, and now, no one but the most devout spirits have kept their faith in The Light.

Monastery of Light

A community of monks high in the Vertical Mountains of the Wild Lands still sing The Light's praises. They are certain in their conviction that their faith is the only thing keeping the world in existence.

These monks credit The Light for everything, and call the gods simply glorified spirits who have forgotten their creator.
