Minoru Mizuhara was born to Mizuhara Max and Mariam [in Kokoro, his mother is former Black Soul member Kotoko], being a crossover character from Bakuten Shoot! Beyblade. He is a member of both The Star Six and the Revivals, being defensive for both groups. Growing up, he was the neighbor to Ryou and Roy, though he doesn't remember the former too much other than what Roy told him in stories. Generally, while Minoru tends to be an easy-going boy, he does have his moments where he loses it. Normally, Minoru sticks to the US, and spends most of his time with his beyblading friends these days, as Cafe Mew Mew doesn't hold much interest to him. But who knows; maybe he'll come back one last time.

History

Before Kokoro

Minoru was born to Mizuhara Max and Kotoko, being the older out of two children. From an early age, he and Kin, his younger sister by two years, were exposed to the lifestyle of beybladers. Noru knew the ins and outs of how beyblades were formed, how tournaments worked - if you asked him one of the technical details, he would respond.

Occasionally, Noru would help out in the labs that his father owned. It wasn't too hard, either - just filing and such then.

When he was about six years old, Jishou had just finished a prototype of the Mew Project. Since Shou and Noru's father were good friends, Max let Shou try it out on Noru.

The DNA was actually compatible, but a messup in the results caused Jishou to go back to the drawing board, as he believed that Noru wasn't the right person for the job. Thus, his turtle DNA stayed dormant for quite a while.

It wasn't activated again until Minoru went to Japan to live with his grandparents, bringing his father's old beyblades with him. While he was there, he became part of the Revivals.

The group had their own adventures, but Noru's with the Kokoro group wouldn't begin until he was enrolled in Hoshizen Academy by mistake, as he was thought to be a norm at the time.

From there, he became a part of The Star Six, but didn't pull out because he enjoyed spending time with them.

Kokoro Days

[past stuff'll come later when Saica finds time to sift through old chats.]

These days, Minoru's rarely seen as he's trying to break away from the beyblading world. The Revivals decided that a four year record was enough for them, and they split off on good terms. Minoru decided to take summer classes in culinary school in addition to his classes in summoning and geology over at Esori.

He'll be a senior at Esori the following year instead of the norm school he'd been attending in the US. Besides schoolwork, he's occasionally appeared in Tokyo to pay a visit to Gamu and everyone - especially Shuugo when Ryou was thought to be dead - whenever he can find free time.

Kokoro Draft Future

Other-Worldly Counterparts

  • America Mew Mew: In America Mew Mew, Noru is Shuugo and Ryou's neighbor as well as a fledgling mage and gijinka. Minoru is rarely - if ever - referred to by anything other than "Noru," and often made cameo appearances before the final battles. While Noru's world champion status is never openly stated, everyone's aware that Noru is internationally famous. Oddly enough? The fame hasn't gotten to him. Noru's grandmother, Judy Mizuhara, still carries out Sacred Beast research - and it's implied that Judy's research pushed Jishou to start thinking about the Mew Project. It should be noted that in AMM, Minoru and Kokoto aren't related.
  • Chrono Mew Mew: Minoru is a single father with a daughter, Haneko, in Chrono, presumably because his wife divorced him. Despite this, Noru's still a cheerful guy who also teaches at Hoshizen when he's busy not working at his hobby shop.

Personality

Generally, Minoru is pretty easy-going and cheerful. However, he does have a tendency to be somewhat sarcastic - usually around Ryou or someone he fears in order to keep his cool. Otherwise, he tends to be your cheerful, run of the mill American who doesn't know much Japanese (if any).

He's knowledgeable on beyblading, as he is a current world champion, ad well as geology and genetics from helping his scientist father out in his labs, but oddly enough, unless asked, he won't mention much on the subject. It can be assumed that he's also a closet fan of Darkwave.

Minoru doesn't have many weaknesses other than his friends and family. What is his weakness, then? On his right ankle, there's a green shield, and it's clearly not a tatoo. If one asks about it, one can bet that Noru will become more withdrawn and unwilling to join conversation until the subject is dropped.

Lovelife

  • Shinga Shikari: Went nowhere. Noru ended up dating Natsumi, though the two have potential for becoming more than friends. It just didn't happen in Kokoro.
  • Sumeragi Natsumi: Minoru's current girlfriend. Not much is said about her, as she's a beyblader (and a Renaldi), but it can be implied that the two get along pretty well for pretty obvious reasons.

Mage Information

Weapon

  • Star Shield: A long green shield topped with another shield, this one shaped like a blue star. As it's a newly acquired weapon, Noru rarely uses it; he can't quite control a shield in battle yet.
  • Chronicle Bow: A huge jade green bow. Noru typically uses white arrows with it.
  • Draciel D-Merge: No longer used, this was Noru's main beyblade.
  • Draciel Metallic H-Note:

It should be noted that he only uses the first two in mage battles; the last is used within the beyblading world.

Abilities

  • Emotion Control: When Noru is extremely angry, his magic becomes extremely powerful. Of course, this occasionally has a price: his magic can become unstable if his anger increases.
  • Stacked Stones: [can also be used in battle] Noru can use the earth as his personal stepping stones (in essence, this means that he can make the earth rise and catch him, and the earth moves with him so that he can walk down normally).
  • Earth Renewal: Anytime an earth element spell hits him, Noru is revived by the energy. In the beyblading world, both water and earth elemental attacks are nullified or don't work as well on his beyblade.
  • Water Flow: [Used only in the beyblading world] Noru holds the element of water, and is thus more immune to water-elemental attacks than he would be normally. Thus, most of Noru's attacks are water-based.

Signature Attacks

  • Force Field: Using either the ground in front of him or his own energy, Noru can create a sphere-shaped barrier around him for a short amount of time. While he can negate attacks with it, he can also bounce attacks back if he uses more energy to create the barrier.
  • Earthquake: Using his energy, Noru can create a small earthquake. When his emotions take over, the earthquake's strength is increased; he can't control it on some occasions, either.
  • Earth Shatter: Pounding his shield into the ground, Noru can shatter the earth he touches into two.
  • Aqua Forcefield: Noru powers up a barrier with water, enabling the water to shoot at the foe if it dares to attack him. [Used only in the beyblading world.]

Unison Attacks

  • Changing Earth: A unison attack that combines Shuugo's transformation abilities with Noru's Stacked Stones. Noru performs Stacked Stones, enabling Shuu to transform the towering earth into anything he pleases. During this process, Noru tosses his shield like a discus to hit the foe one last time.
  • Digital Vine: A unison attack that combines Noru's earth magic and arrows with Daisuke's data magic and sword. The other's element surrounds the weapon (Minoru's arrows would have the element of data; Dai would have an earth-element sword), and they would then attack at the same time.

Stats

  • Strengths: Defense, Recovery, Focus [When beyblading, substitute Recovery for Endurance]
  • Average: Mentality, Speed, Evasion
  • Weaknesses: Offense, Technique

Trivia

  • Minoru used to be afraid of Ryou. Whether this is still true or not, no one quite knows.
  • Yes, Kin was his twin sister at one point, but retconned to be around a year younger because she had enough pairs of twins as it was.
