New Beginnings is the story of The Star Six. It tells how the six mages originally met, how some of them despised the others, and how they became friends under extremely unlikely circumstances. While New Beginnings (referred to as 'NB' on some occasions) often hints to Kokoro characters and plotlines that occured in 2004 (the year that the mages met and became friends), those same characters are not part of the main storyline - the mages dislike Cafe Mew Mew throughout the entire story.
Differences from Kokoro
- Many important characters in Kokoro (ie, Shirogane Ryou) are not important to the plot. Rather, when Shuu's origins are explained, Ryou's AMM counterpart becomes more vital to the story.
- Takaishi Sora is referred as Professor Takahashi for a majority of the story, as a homage to what his name was originally before the multiple retcons.
- School life is prioritized; there are multiple mentions of other private schools, such as Phantasy Prepatory and Mizuho University School.
- Sutori Cafe is more of their meeting place than Cafe Mew Mew, and is mentioned more often.
- The Mew Mews are rarely mentioned, if at all.
- There's more run-ins with Chosen Children and Beybladers; NB tends to cross-over with other series more.
- AIR is alive and running
- The Black Souls are more active; all of them are alive and part of the cult (with the exception of Kotoko, who left well before NB started). Memory, along with four other Sin members, are killed in NB.
- If there's more, it'll be up here... eventually.
