Mew Satou, drawn by Satouberri and colored by Keruri

Kuroneko Satou Berii (黒ネコさとうべりー) is a 16-year-old Mew Mew who started showing up at Cafe Mew Mew after her parents died in a car crash back in 2004, and was born in the current Kokoro dimension. She is part of RAz ((Ryou's Army Z/his harem)), and is also the self declared leader of the new Mew Mew group, though in reality she isn't. Her authoress is Satouberri.

History

Before Kokoro

Satou grew up in Canada, presumedly somewhere near the ocean, seeing as she has lots of experience with boats, fishing, and the ocean in general. This is why she has a middle name, which don't exist in Japan. She lived there until she was about 8 years old, at which time her family moved to the United States for a bit. She stayed in the USA until she was 14, and then her family moved to Japan. The moves were part of business and her parents' work, and the trip to Japan was not supposed to last very long. However, her parents were killed in a car crash while they were visiting Japan.

Satou was then sent to live with a woman named Nijirose Momoko, who was a friend of the Kuroneko family. Being spoiled at the time, Satou decided she would hate her new mother, referring to her as a wicked woman and avoiding her at all costs. Around this time, Satou discovered she was a Mew Mew, and went to Cafe Mew Mew. Cafe Mew Mew became her new hideaway, and she eventually moved in.

Personality

It is probably safe to say that Satou has a few issues here and there. For the most part, she is a very sweet and cheerful girl who wishes for nothing but the happiness of others, though she has an odd way of expressing it. She is very outgoing and hyper when around people but able and willing to melt into the background too. Her bad, violent temper tends to get her into lots of trouble.

Family's Effect

One of Satou's key personality factors is that she hates being adopted. Satou cannot accept the present and tries to stay in the past. By this time she has admitted her parents are dead on the outside but refuses to admit on the inside that she needs to fill that empty hole with a new family. Since she strongly believes that the pain of the past is the only thing that keeps her parents her parents she will not move on and tends to block anyone who tries to get too close and heal her out. This cold nature is occasionally seen when people get too close to her; she ignores them and acts very cruelly towards them. Unconsciously, Satou tries to get people to help her but this is a purely unconscious reaction to her sadness. Whenever she feels like she might snap, cry and beg for help Satou distances herself from everyone.

Ryou's Effect

In the beginning of the story, Satou was a loyal Ichigo fangirl. Her life simply was not complete without a happy dose of Ichigo. Over time, though, Satou noticed she was feeling funny around Ryou and eventually discovered she loved him and that Ichigo had been a cover up for her sadness. Now, Satou does her best to keep her feelings to herself. She has realized that all the love puts stress on Ryou and doesn't want to hurt him anymore so instead quietly 'suffers' as she tries to fall out of love without him noticing. However, she cannot help but be overprotective of her NiiNii and it is sometimes very obvious that she is a complete and total fangirl.

Relationships

"Family"

Satou has a family issue; ever since losing her parents she has struggled to replace the hole in her heart that she never lets heal properly. Because of this, she looks at people and tends to label them as her new family members, even if they have no blood relation.

Shirogane Ryou - Her "NiiNii". Though she is actually in love with him, Satou settles for a younger sister and tries not to let her feelings ruin his happiness. That doesn't change the fact, though, that it does upset her that she can't be honest about how she feels.

Gamu - Her "Oneechan", sometimes also called her "NeeNee". Even though Gamu is younger than her, Satou treats her like an older sister. Since Satou is fully aware of Gamu's crush on Ryou she has very mixed feelings toward her "sister", and struggles to try and get Gamu interested in someone else and not to hurt Ryou.

Saltigo - Saltigo is her alternate universe little sister. They get along pretty well, though Satou does try to keep her at a distance sometimes, since Salt reminds her of her lost parents.

Craneko Sucreko - Nijirose Momoko's niece and Satou's cousin through adoption. Because of Satou's refusal to accept the past, she tries to keep Sucreko at a distance. Sucreko, on the other hand, struggles to rebuild the bound they had before becoming family.

Nijirose Momoko - Her adoptive mother. However, even though it's been a few years since they became a family, Satou has not truely accepted her. Satou talks about Momoko like she's evil and out to ruin Satou's life but this is all made-up; Satou is just looking for reasons to hate her new mother.

Hoshizen Daisuke - When Satou began panicking over her feelings for Ryou and trying to find a new home she ended up moving in with Daisuke and his family. She considers this family to be the most warm and is most at ease when around them, even though they rarely spend time together. To her, Daisuke is her precious "Dai-nii".

Shirogane Kyr - Though they don't see each other much, Kokoro!Satou thinks of him as another brother.

Friends

Lovelife

Due to the fact she has no real family, Satou started out with a bad habit of falling in and out of love at an incrediby fast rate. As the story went on, though, she was able to stay in love with one person, which isn't really to her advantage anyway, since that person is Shirogane Ryou. Originally, Satou was in love with Kisshu, since they had a short history together before Satou officially moved into the Cafe. After a while, though, Satou's affections shifted to Shirogane Ichigo, and she was a spastic, annoying fangirl for a while. She wasn't very shy with her love, and later realized that she was just fooling herself, and trying to pretend she was in love so she wouldn't be lonely. This discovery sent Satou into a disguised emo period. Quite a long time after this, Satou realized she'd fallen for Ryou. Upset that the only people she'd ever loved were closely related to Ichigo, and fearing that she was going to be a problem for Ryou and Ichigo's happiness, she has ever since tried to find a way to leave Cafe Mew Mew and not ever be a problem, or part, of their lives again.

Shirogane Kyr - "Kyonkichi", as Satou affectionately calls him. In an alternate universe, they supposedly get together because of a ToS/TMM crossover.

Shirogane Ryou - Now her "NiiNii". Satou originally realized she was in love with him after discovering her love for Ichigo was a lie she was telling herself. However, since Ryou and Ichigo were together, Satou decided to just stand on the sidelines and watch. Though she is still in love with him, Satou is willing to settle for being a little sister if it'll keep Ryou happy.

Alternates

Sugar Card! Satou : The little ditz that occasionaly shows up in Kokoro when she's hiding from Touka or Eiki. These two Satous have an interesting relationship, since Mew Satou is incredibly jealous of the attention her Sakura Card Mistress counterpart gets. Mew Satou often makes references to her counterpart's blue haired boyfriend when she's ranting about stuff she dislikes.

Dream World! Satou : The cheerful, stupid american who runs laps with blindfolds during the day and saves the world in her dreams. Dream World! Satou is coupled up with Dream World! Shugo, though Mew Satou is fair too dense to realize this and apply it to her own Shugo.

Mew Mew Information

Basics

Satou is one of the few Mew Mews in Kokoro to have the DNA of more than one animal. How and why she became a Mew Mew is an unfilled plot hole. Since she has double cat DNA, Satou is more animal than human at times, and changes into a cat more than most other Mew Mews might.

Like Mew Ichigo, Satou's name is not translated when she transforms. Instead, she keeps it the same so as to be more like her idol.

Weapon and Attack

Satou's weapon is called the Shugaachaimu, otherise knon as the "Sugar Chime". (Of course, she usually substitutes the "mu" for the cuter, more catlike "myu".) Her weapon closely resembles a bright pink, plastic letter "D". From the bottom, three silver cowbells dangle on little strings, and from the center is a silver cat bell, with a slip of paper which has "MYU" written on it hanging from the bell. On the top, she has the traditional Mew anime weapon design (the pink heart jewel with the Mew Project symbol inside), but unlike traditional mews, the casing around hers is silver. This has bright pink wings coming off it and a silver halo. The wings turn black when Mew Satou has recently healed someone.

Satou's basic attack is Riboon Sugaa Uindii Ringuu, or "Reborn Sugar Wind Ring". This ability creates a sugar scented breeze, and the power is base on how intense Mew Satou's emotions are while she's fighting. It can be either a pitiful breeze, or a large tornado. Unfortunely, it also drains her energy to use her ability to the max of its power.

She also has two other attacks that pair with each other. Reborn Shugaa Hai-nyu, or "Ribbon Sugar High -nyu", involves Mew Satou transferring her own energy and power to someone else. This makes her very tired, but makes whoever she used the ability on heal quickly, almost instantly. To reverse the ability, and give her back her energy, Mew Satou uses Riboon Sugaa Kurasshu, or "Reborn Sugar Crash". "Crashing" causes whoever was "highed" to become sleepy as their body adjusts to not having the extra energy, similar to a sugar or caffeine crash.

Special Abilities

Trivia

  • Though Satou was not one of the original Kokoro characters, she is often treated as if she'd been there the whole time.
  • Mew Satou was the lead Mew Mew in two fanfictions, TMM: Reborn and Tokyo Dream World
  • The above is shameless plugging.
  • Mew Satou's design has been modified over time to appear more "gothic".
