The truth of the matter is that Ichigo was murdered, something Kouji blames his father for being unable to stop. Some, like Kouji, blame the accident on Ryou himself, many saying that he staged it to promote his research which had been failing; others, friends, believe that it was someone out to steal the research for themselves. In either case, Ryou begins tampering with the controversial and very dangerous field of magitechnology in hopes of reviving his late wife. In the meantime, his friends have been trying to convince him to let her rest in peace and move on with his life. [edit] Before Kokoro

In his dimension, Ichigo was murdered, something Kouji blamed his father for being unable to stop. Ryou has made a big name for himself and has become extremely wealthy of his own right thanks to a large research institution that he founded. Some, like Kouji, blame the accident on Ryou himself, many saying that he staged it to promote his research which had been failing recently; others, friends, believe that it was someone out to steal the research for themselves. corporation building, using artificial means to keep her from completely dying away. He later begins tampering with the controversial and very dangerous field of magitechnology in hopes of reviving her. In the meantime, his friends had been trying to convince him to let her rest in peace and move on with his life. Having little luck, Ryou reluctantly agreed, but each time a marriage is planned, it seems that someone goes after the bride-to-be, despite mass security attempts.

The Mew Mews in this dimension use sound-based abilities; the harmonies can purify souls that were turned into Chimera Anima or heal those wounded by their attacks.

[edit] Kokoro Days

Kouji was creating mischief from the very first day he walked into Kokoro, accusing Plum of stealing his shoes and making trouble for a few innocent victims. He also originally claimed that he was the child of Sarah Cohen and Roy Bancroft, but most cafegoers could see through this lie quite easily. Apparently the boy's main objective in visiting this world was to alert Shirogane Ichigo that he was both her son and that in one particular future she no longer exists.

Kouji continued to return to Kokoro, and made a few Mirror Mew visits as well where he first meets Himeno and several others.

Meanwhile, Ryou had given up on both his research and getting married and began spending more of his free time with Kouji. Gradually another girl stepped into the picture, and so it was decided that on the eve of the New Year, Ryou and that dimension's Gamu would be married (about 3-4 other marriage attempts came before this). Of course, something was bound to go wrong, and it did. Learning of these circumstances, Kokoro's Gamu went to investigate, as did Ryou who had been asked by Kouji to take a look at his mother to see if there was truly any hope for her. During the ceremony, the bride is again targetted, however, it is Kouji's father that is killed in the end, having become somewhat delusional from together. Though Kokoro's Gamu seems to blame herself for not being able to stop anything, Ryou states that it was inevitable. Kouji is left in the care of that dimension's Gamu, although he seems to visit his grandfather pretty regularly also.

Following these events, Kouji's personality underwent a number of changes. Though he still plays the stupid card (even insisting that he needs to become more intelligent), he seems to be more aware of serious issues and their results, and also lapses into actually acting his own age.

[edit] Otherworldly Counterparts

Kouji can be seen as an alternate for Ryou Jr. They share a middle name, and both have dealt with tragedy that has affected their personalities as a result.

[edit] Personality

Kouji apparently takes interest his grandfather's "Operation Black Roses" or something, thus the obsession with black roses. Kouji's also absolutely fascinated by the concept of magic (which explains his admiration for Shirogane Shuugo and the other mages). Although he has no magical ability himself, he takes on performance magic and sleight-of-hand. Kouji really likes surprising people in that way.

Overall, Kouji's a pretty energetic and perky boy, however, he does have one problem (like most Shirogane kids) which is that he has multiple personalities. His mood can change suddenly from him bouncing off the walls to crying his eyes out, however, overall he's happy - he's just not the brightest crayon in the box.

Kouji's also pretty sensitive to the suffering of others which is one of the reasons he decides to become a "phantom thief" in the first place. He believes in doing what is morally right, even if it's painful sometimes.

She's well aware of his not-so-secret secret identity, and he's trying to help her remember what she forgot, too.
