Mayor Wayne J Hall: (referring to fixing the tax structure to be more favorable to the village) The other way to do that would be to make Hempstead a city. Alright, we do have legislation up in Albany for that, and we just haven't followed up on that. But thats one of the options that we have. Theres some pros and some cons.
Village administrator Michael Abrams: (over the mayor)And some cons! and um,
Mayor Wayne J Hall: And we just haven't really pushed it, But if we wanted to realize the sales tax, we would have to push that. And I think the last time they made a city in this state was a back in the 40's.
Village administrator Michael Abrams: (over the mayor) Looong ago.
Mayor Wayne J Hall: So its not an easy process to do.
Garrett Frey: Ok.
Mayor Wayne J Hall:But it was introduced into the Senate several years back, And it hasn't been introduced in the Assembly. It just um, stalled up there. We haven't pushed it and we just want to look at it further before we do that.
