Hempstead and Criminals

Proposal: I plan to uncover information on the crime rate and different criminals (what is information on criminals, how will you find them if they have not been caught yet)that currently reside in or hail from Hempstead (or have recently been apprehended) and what seems to draw them to the area.'(intersting idea, but how will you find someone to talk about what draws them here? do you ahve a criminologist to speak to)

Information

Hempstead, NY is a town with a population of 56,554 people (as of 2000). It is located in Nassau County 19 miles east of New York, New York. Hempstead has a bad reputation for a high crime rate, being the home to many sex offenders,(these facts are avalible online too) criminals, and gangs, and is apparently the hide out for many criminals/fugitives. (Juicy, who lives here)

For example there are currently 26 registered sex offenders living in Hempstead in early 2007 according to city-data.com. That's a ratio of 1 offender for 2175 Hempstead residents.

What's to come

More research into recent gang violence, fugitives, and sex offenders who call Hempstead home and if any action is being taken to clean up the town. (Closer inspection of the sources will be conducted as well as interviews with the Hempstead Police Department.) (This looks fine. will you also speak to Nassau County cops?)
