Karistan is a small sovereign nation outside of the HEXARCHY. It is a nation with a fascistic form of governance and is divided into several provinces. Each province is ruled by a high ranking military official which has complete jurisdiction over that province's governance. The national parliament has de jure authority to govern the nation, however the de facto leader is the Hoofd, it is from him that the real power emminates. The HOOFD, which is the title of the country's ruler, serves as the presiding officer of the National Assembly, head of state and of government, and the Supreme Commander of the military. The Hoofd is the head of the National Socialist party, the only allowed party in the country. Each local subdivision in the country; cities, towns, villages, and communes, are placed under the authority with an officer from the military acting as the local chief executive. The Hoofd has the power to appoint and remove local executives to or from their respective posts in the government. Each of the country's constituent provinces are being governed by a high ranking officer often a member of the National Socialist Party (NSP). The officer who is appointed as a provincial military governor often has a very strong power and influence towards the military personnel and units stationed in that province, they are often granted power to act under the name of the Hoofd in minor affairs which will only affect that provinces affair, however important subject matters that affects the national security may only be acted upon by the Hoofd himself. The nation's justice system is based mostly of military laws, civilians and military personnel alike are tried by either a civilian court or by a court martial based on the offense they had committed. The court martial tries almost all breaches of military law by civilian and soldiers alike, however high priority cases including treason and betrayal are often tried by the National Parliament. One of the parliaments duties also includes them serving as the appeals court, while serving as a court the Hoofd is not permitted to attend the parliaments sessions. Any cases being held against a high ranking military officer, higher than the rank of a colonel, and of the Hoofd can only be brought forth in the parliament where they can pass down judgement. The parliament has the power to appoint and to remove the Hoofd from his position. The country has maintained a sizeable military force capable of defending it and attacking other nations. The country is well known for its universal conscription policy which requires all citizens to render military service for no less than three years. The conscripts may either choose to join the militia or the regular army. The regular army is the main bulk of Karistan's military might while the militia the rear operations force of the military. The military has a well defined command hierarchy, the highest position attainable in the military is that of a field marshal. The position of a Hoofd is always a political position held by the country's chief executive. The military operates several tanks as primary weapons as well as several field guns, mortars, and infantry weapons. Karistan's capital is at the city of BREGEN, a large-sized city located at the eastern part of the nation, it is also in BREGEN that the military's High Command and the higher ranking officers are stationed. The city is also home to one of the country's leading academic institution, the UNIVERSITIET FEDERAT VAN BREGEN (University Federal of Bregen). The university is recognized as a center of academic excellence in the world of Jolkein, it offers that rivals other academic institutions outside of the country. Several of the provinces also has a number of operating universities in their jurisdiction. Education in this country is very important, however very few people can ever continue schooling until college because of the high university and college fees and the strict restrictions and policies imposed by the government. Elementary education is provided free by the government. Elementary curriculum always includes military training and operations of military equipment. Students are taught to use rifle at very young age and are brainwashed to always abide the military and provide the nation with their services. Trade is a thriving industry. Industries in this country are mostly established to support the state's military and for the domestic people. Little products are ever exported and even smaller amounts of goods and products are imported by the country. In the countryside, people live in harsh condition and very little incomes which may not be capable of supporting them. Most of the nations residents work hard in the urban centres were their are large numbers of industrial factories producing many things from soaps and cereals to rifles and tanks. The military imposes strict orders and laws that the civilian population are expected to abide. The military, which is the governments enforcer, controls many of the industries in the country. Rich industrialist are often members of the party, to ensure that their companies are not seized by the government. The Committee of Trade in the national government issues permits and operates many public industries. Health services is given free for citizens for minor cases, however in major cases the government only provides some subsidy. Most of the country's health facilities are operated by the government and are often situated in urban areas. The lack of health facilities in the rural areas contributes to the higher death rates in these areas. The government provides food and water rations for the needy in the rural and urban areas to further create a good image towards them. The military employs the use psychological methods to pursued the population into supporting them and to ensure that the population will not rebel against them. They have also portraits other nations as evil and had given its residents the thought that the only thing other nations is to occupy and seize control of their nation. This is the reason why the people of this country greatly loves and respects both the government, military, and especially the Hoofd and had come to hate the other nations and their people. Foreigners are often given unwelcome treatments by the population and are always escorted by military people when they arrive the country. No other nation except TAFF had ever establish a diplomatic mission in this country. The people of this country share the same hatred towards the Djarvens as the people of FAWZIA does. Their hatred towards Djarvens are based on the fact that many Djarvens in this country are successful and skillful. Several years after the National Socialist Party gain control of the government they started to expell Djarvens from the country and began prosecuting them. Other Djarvens who stayed had been sent to the concentration camps where they are forced to work under horrible conditions and many of the Djarvens sent here dies because of starvation and other illnesses. The country is currently experiencing an inflation where the prices of products are increasing at an astonishing rate. The Pepermangen, the country's monetary currency, is rapidly loosing its value. With an exchange rate of 7,500,000 Pepermangens per ounce of gold, it is the worst performing currency in the continent. Currently, the country's military is pursuing a very risky and exhausting project to create and launch airborne planes smaller than airships yet faster than them. This invention if successful would be vital to the militaristic ventures of the country to annex and conquer new lands. Until now only a single aircraft had ever been able to take off from the ground and from this aircraft they are trying to built numerous similar machines to create an airborne military branch. Karistan currently controls two autonomous provinces namely; YOJIMA and VOLVODJRIVA. Each of this autonomous provinces has its own government, defence force, and an economy. The HOOFD maintains his control over these provinces by appointing a representative known as an AMBASSADOR which acts under the authority of the HOOFD. Within each province they have maintained their own unique culture, traditions, ways of life, and art. They have the most diverse cultural heritages which fuses their own's and the Karistani influences. Each of the autonomous provinces are headed by a military governor which is a high ranking military officer from the KARISTANI military appointed by the HOOFD to fill the position. The autonomous provinces were forcibly annexed and conquered by the KARISTAN after a series of armed struggles for dominance which resulted in heavy casualties from both sides. The autonomous province of YOJIMA has a majority of Twagian inhabitants adhering to the predominant religion in the area, JAWARISM. YOJIMA was once a part of FAWZIA but was annexed after a three month war that resulted to the defeat of FAWZIA and the subsequent surrender of YOJIMA. The Socialist Autonomous Province of VOLVODJRIVA has a majority of Quiellan inhabitants and speaks their own native tongue. The province was annexed by KARISTAN when they invaded the nation of VOLVODJRIVA and they defeated its army and after a series of negotiations KARISTAN agreed to grant the province the autonomous status due to their ethnicity, traditions, culture, and language. Another province which lies outside of the borders of KARISTAN is the province of QUATCHIELLA a province which was conquered by KARISTAN due to its proximity to the nations of the HEXARCHY. The province of QUATCHIELLA is also given an autonomous status, they have their own language, cultures, and traditions. The province of QUATCHIELLA is amongst the smallest province in KARISTAN in terms of size and population.
