The Protagonists have angered Ki'rix the Hive by destroying his influence over three corrupted Dragon Blooded - admittedly by destroying the two fires and saving the water, Pale Torrent of the Flowing Birthright - releasing the spell cast over a member of the Seal of the Unbound, and refusing the blood sacrifices he sought to make to them. It is presumed that both parties seek to destroy the other. Unfortunately, Pale Torrent of the Flowing Birthright seems to believe that it has other hosts that are more powerful than she is.
Ki'rix uses creatures of malign influence to corrupt his followers. The creatures are relatively small with an arrow-shaped head, sharp beak, five barbed tentacles, and a sickly green glow. These creatures latch on to the back of the neck where they insert a proboscis into the neural material of their host. During the possession the host acts by Ki-rix's will and if freed (by cutting out the parasite) the host retains no memory of its actions. When removed they corrupt the tool used to excise them, and the rocks bashed with them warp and twist into grotesque faces.
Then again, what else do you expect from one which feeds on souls to sustain itself, exists to be worshipped, and seeks to burn/destroy Creation in green (unholy) fire.
