Battle of Ujrev

The Battle of Újrév was the only land battle on the territory of Liberty Islands.
1849 October 12th, Northeast from the port of Újrév, the Hungarian National Guard clashed with the Imperial Russian and Imperial Prussian expeditionary forces. The battle ended up in the total destruction of the invaders. On the night of October 12th, the Pusso-Prussian forces capitulated. Next morning the remaining forces put down the weapons. The capitulating forces were given amnesty and the Russian troops offered the chance to settle down in Liberty Islands.
