Mesias The Republic of Mesias is a small country in South America bordering Colombia and Venezuela. The capital is Santaleon. Mesias is the second smallest country in South America behind French Guiana. Mesias is still a developing country, despite years of economic aid from neighboring oil-rich Venezuela. Mesias is just slightly wealthier than Brazil, but poorer than Colombia. A majority of Mesias is located on the Guajira peninsula while the southern region is located at the end of the Andes mountain range. Mesias consists of three provinces, Guajira, Maraibo and Barranqo. The capitals being Santaleon for Guajira, Costa Merced for Maraibo and Popayán for Barranqo.

History
Climate
Guajira
Guajira is more arid than the rest of Mesias, recieving the least rainfall. However the region is still very lush, but has been highly urbanized. It is the wealthiest region with the capital, Santaleon, but is also the most polluted due to car fumes and industry. Specifically oil plants.
Maraibo
Maraibo is the wettest region located east of the Andes mountains. It is a poverty-stricken region with many poor villages struggling economically. Many native tribes still live here. Unfortunately the region is filled with coca plants which are used to make cocaine.
Barranqo
Barranqo is a mountainous region cradled by the Andes mountains. It is cooler than most regions, but still humid and tropical. Snowfall usually only collects on the highest peaks.
Culture
Mesias has a rich culture which is a combination of native festivals from the Tazixclan tribes, Religious observances from the Spanish colonial era, and some african traditions brought by slaves.

Ano Nuevo (New Years)
New Year's day is most commonly celebrated at the main plaza of every town.
Carnivale de Mesias
On the day before Lenten fasting begins, people party hard.
Pascua (Easter)
Easter is an elaborate religious celebration that includes processions and church services.
Independence Day
When Mesias gained independence from Spain.
Columbus Day
Honors the explorer who started the first colony in Cuba.
La Inmaculada Concepción
Another elaborate religious ceremony regarding the Virgin Mary.
Navidad (Christmas)
Yet another elaborate religious celebration of the birth of Christ. Presents are often exchanged.
Industry
Mesias' industry consists mostly of Agriculture, Manufacturing, and oil. Bananas and Coffee are the highest exports out of the country and have given wealth to the developing country.
