Summit Protocol

The Summit Protocol Proposal recieved steady majority at the Khaled City Summit. It is official from February, 2008.

1. Summit Schedule

   IPON summits to be held every 2 months. Summits to be held in the "odd" months, i.e January, March, May, July, September and November.

2. Bidding

   Members who want to host a summit to say so and to say what their country will do for the summit, e.g any particular proposals or policies. We then vote on the location of the summits for March and May and the rest.

3. Continuity

   We always know where the next two summits will be held. So for example, at the March summit, we decide who will host the July summit. This gives the host time to plan for the summit, both in building an appropriate venue/area within their city, plus to plan the policy areas to be discussed.

4. Agenda

   Prior to the summit members can suggest areas for discussion and the summit leader will draw up an agenda to ensure sufficient time is given to each area to be discussed.

5. Speaker

   During the summit, the summit leader is responsible for leading the debate and organising the votes on the various policy areas.

6. Announcement

   At the end of the summit, the summit leader prepares a message outlining what has been agreed and achieved and also what areas require further discussion or work, which can be carried over to the next summit.

7. "Even" Events

   During the "even" months of February, April, June, August, October and December, there will be time for other activities such as the Expo, any sporting or cultural events, or indeed any gathering that does not constitute a summit.

8. Summit Nominations

   Members can apply for summits as often as they wish. Members will be encouraged to consider two factors when voting on summit locations
   (a) who will organise a summit that will be a success and
   (b) ensuring that summits are shared around the members who want to host a summit.
