[edit] Castillo Viejo
Castillo Viejo is the old part of Santa Leon, named after the wall that fortified the city until it was destroyed by pirates. It is the oldest part of the city and one of the largest and well preserved colonial centers in Latin America. The old city is dominated by the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Paz (Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace) and the Castillo Real.
