Statues: "The statue is the symbol of your power. It spreads fear among your enemies and inspires your people to the highest achievements. Pre-requisite: all buildings and all research", according to .co.uk help.
Statues in effect increase your score. They have no other purpose whatsoever. Numerous experiments on .co.uk has proven this, including no help when detecting spy missions.
Statues cannot be built in .com at all.
