My firm recently decided to update its accounting programs. As the office manager within an uncomfortable situation, though it'll probably increase efficiency in the future, but presently, I am put by it.
Over the years, several bookkeeping programs have been tryed by the firm, but eventually settled on Quickbooks, which frankly speaking, I'm quite indifferent to, but have gotten so used to it within the last few years. We will probably maybe not know the guy that took the decision to look at a fresh accounting program; but it really was a wrong decision.
There was nothing wrong in the present accounting plan, and establishing a one was created new issues, that has was never envisaged. First, every thing had to be recorded to the newest accounting programs, and for this activity, the manager hired some type of computer expert, who also been his daughter.
The duty involved writing a macro that will change all the records from the old bookkeeping programs into the new one, and however, the project failed- just like everything the manager and his family do, on top of this is actually the problem of lack of compatibility between the QuickBooks and the new bookkeeping programs, which was a kind of public access thing that was obviously produced by Linux nerds in their free time. Although it's very firm and well coded, it is simply not an user-friendly software.
Needless to say I bore the brunt of the whole thing, so I had to learn how exactly to operate this design free, all text screen, before entering the old accounting plan data. Of course the brand new plan is probably faster, and more stable, however the point can it be is boring and requires a longer time to learn.
Even now that I have a full grasp of it, I still prefer one of the accounting programs where I can click a couple of symbols and not be concerned about keyboard shortcuts.
I resent this new plan because I will need certainly to utilize it all day, so I think I deserve some thing pleasant to interact and work with.
But it seems nobody is thinking about that, so long as it's free, fast, and occupies less hard disk drive space, then it will work.
