These guys just don't seem to care any more

  • 2007 marked the year that HP overtook and accelerated past IBM to become the IT industry's No. 1 in revenue terms. You'd think IBM would be concerned, huh?
  • Well, as it happens, no. IBM seems to be glad about it. In September, IBM's Market Intelligence department handed out its largest ever award ($25,000) to the guy who's supposed to monitor HP. Charles Baskinger became the company's first Distinguished Market Intelligence Professional for 'demonstrating technical expertise with business impact'. Ouch! Do IBM's stockholders know? Probably not. Would they approve?
